Catalytic cracking processes such as fluidized catalytic cracking, naphtha cracking, and olefin cracking are catalyzed by the UZM-35 family of crystalline aluminosilicate zeolitic compositions represented by the empirical formula: M n+ m R + r Al (l-x) E x Si y O z where M represents a combination of potassium and sodium exchangeable cations, R is a singly charged organoammonium cation such as the dimethyldipropylammonium cation and E is a framework element such as gallium. These UZM-35 zeolitic compositions are active and selective in the catalytic cracking of hydrocarbons.

A process is disclosed for reducing the viscosity of a hydrocarbon mixture having a viscosity, at 20 °C, of greater than 10,000 cP. The process comprises comprising the steps of: a) contacting the hydrocarbon mixture with inorganic catalyst particles in the presence of water and a surfactant; b) catalytically reducing the average molecular weight of the hydrocarbon mixture. The process is particularly suitable for making heavy fossil fuel sources amenable to processing in conventional refinery equipment.
