Abstract:
Systems and methods for varnish abatement and removal from in-service fluids and components of an industrial lubricated system. The systems and methods may include adding an effective amount of a solubility enhancer to the in-service fluid, and contacting the mixture with a medium having acrylamide or styrenic functionality to remove contaminants from the mixture. Systems may include a medium circuit having a medium pump and a medium component and a solubility enhancer reservoir arranged to dispense solubility enhancer to the reservoir. Methods may include pre-conditioning the in-service fluid before adding solubility enhancer.
Abstract:
Hydrocarbon streams, such as crude oil streams, may have reduced drag when an effective amount to reduce drag of a drag reducing composition is added to a liquid hydrocarbon, where the drag reducing composition includes a drag reducing latex comprising at least one plasticizer in an amount effective to improve the ability to pump the latex into a hydrocarbon composition or stream with assured flow of the latex. Latex formulations are known to cause agglomerated particles during pumping operations, and the agglomerated hard particles tend to plug check valves in injection pump equipment, but the inclusion of at least one plasticizer reduces or prevents such problems.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a plant (10) for obtaining, in particular recovering, valuable substances from slurry (15). The plant (10) comprises a drying and evaporation stage (12) in which constituents containing water and hydrocarbons are extracted from the slurry (15). The drying and evaporation stage (12) is connected to a heating apparatus (14). In the heating apparatus (14), the constituents that contain hydrocarbons and are extracted from the oily slurry (15) are chemically reacted in an exothermic chemical reaction while heat of reaction is released.
Abstract:
A process for production of alkyl esters is disclosed. The process comprises reacting a feedstock that includes one or more fatty acid glycerol esters or one or more fatty acids or mixture thereof with a C 5 to C 12 alcohol in the presence of fly ash as a catalyst. A catalyst composite material for the production of alkyl esters having a C 5 to C 12 alkyl chain from a feedstock including one or more fatty acid glycerol esters or one or more fatty acids or mixture thereof, wherein the catalyst includes fly ash is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a method of reducing the vapor pressure of a processed crude oil, wherein such vapor pressure reduction is sufficient to allow safe transportation of the oil. After high-pressure processing for off gassing and subsequent low-pressure separation of water, a processed crude oil may still have sufficient vapor pressure to create hazardous conditions if the oil is transported. This disclosure reports that as little as 10 ppb of certain siloxane polymers applied to such processed crude oils results in treated oils with reduced vapor pressure. Vapor pressure reduction is typically about 1 psi to 10 psi after the application of the disclosed siloxane polymers.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A method for recovering base oil from waste lubricating oil by separating base oil range constituents from a waste lubricating oil mixture, thereafter separating higher quality base oil constituents and lower quality base oil constituents from the base oil recovered from the waste lubricating oil mixture and thereafter treating the lower quality base oil constituents to produce marketable base oil. The total base oil produced from a waste lubricating oil mixture by this process is greater than the quantity producible by previous processes using only base oil separation from the waste lubricating oil mixture or processes which use only treatment of the base oil recovered from the waste lubricating oil mixture to produce the product base oil.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for using field enhanced separations to produce multiple fractions from a petroleum input. A liquid thermal diffusion and/or electric field separation is used to produce the fractions. The fractions can then be used to form multiple outputs that share a first feature while being different with regard to a second feature. For example, a first fraction from the plurality of fractions can have a desired value for a first property such as viscosity index. Two or more additional fractions from the plurality of fractions can then be blended together to make a blended fraction or output. The blended fraction can have a value for the first property that is substantially similar to the value for the first fraction. However, for a second property, the first fraction and the blended fraction can have distinct values. As a result, multiple output tractions can be formed that share a first feature but differ in a second feature.
