The shaft seal arrangement for a rotating turbomachine shaft having a rotation axis, comprises a rotor part (41) and a stationary part (43). Adry gas seal (45) is further provided, in combination with a cooling fluid volume (67) arranged for receiving a cooling fluid and in heat exchange relationship with the dry gas seal. A venting arrangement collectively vents exhaust cooling fluid and dry sealing gas from the shaft seal arrangement.
Abstract:
Presented are systems and methods for assuring a safe working condition of a dry gas seal when a pump/compressor is in a standstill condition. A small booster compressor 426 is added to boost the pressure of an intermediate buffer gas injected into the chamber between a primary seal 404 and a secondary seal 406 of the dry gas seal 400. Control components detect when the barrier gas pressure drops below a preconfigured value and when detected, closes a valve in a line to a flare safe area and turns on the compressor 426. The boosted intermediate buffer gas, Nitrogen or dry air, slows the flow of untreated process gas through the primary seal of the dry gas seal and prevents icing of the primary seal.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Wellendichtung (SS) die mehr als ein Dichtungsmodul (SM), mindestens eine Fluidzuführung (FF) und eine Fluidableitung (FS) umfasst, mit einer inneren Hauptdichtung (MSl) und einer äußeren Hauptdichtung (MS2) und einer Fluidableitung (FSl) zwischen den beiden Hauptdichtungen (MSl, MS2). Herkömmliche Wellendichtungen dieser Art benötigen regelmäßig signifikante Mengen an zusätzlichem Sperrfluid (SF), um geeignete Druckgefälle zu gewährleisten. Hier schafft die Erfindung Abhilfe, indem die innere Hauptdichtung (MSl) als eine radiale Doppeldichtung (RDS) ausgebildet ist, welche bestimmt ist, durch zwei Gasdichtungen (DGS), mit jeweils einer rotierenden Dichtfläche (RSS) und einer stehenden Dichtfläche (SSS), welches Dichtflächenpaar (SSP) sich jeweils in einer Dichtebene (SEP) gegenüber steht, wobei die beiden Dichtebenen eine im Wesentlichen zur Welle (S) radiale Erstreckung aufweisen.
Abstract:
A seal monitoring and control system for a gas lubricated non-contacting seal includes various sensors providing signals to a programmable logic control system. The control system is disposed to determine a presence of an anomalous operating condition of the seal, for example, based on phase, relative position of rotor to stator or other signals in combination provided by the various sensors to provide an output signal, which in one embodiment performs at least one mitigating process to correct the anomalous operating condition by adjusting at least one operating parameter of the seal.

A sealing mechanism for a fluid pump comprises first and second seal members which are coaxially and radially oriented relative to each other, and are positioned between the rotating and non-rotating elements of the fluid pump to maintain a competent seal which is simple to assembly, maintain and repair or replace, and which also improves pump operation when compared to known sealing mechanisms for fluid pumps.
