Abstract:
The present invention relates to charging of communications using chargeable resources of a first communication system and a second communication system wherein at least one of said communication systems provides wireless communication services. In accordance with the method, after a set-up procedure for communications initiated a first procedure for obtaining a first charging component is triggered, the first charging component being associated with the first communication system and determined based on a first charging model. If required, a second procedure for obtaining a second charging component is also triggered, the second charging component being associated with the second communication system and determined based on a second charging model. Information associated with the communications in the first and second communication systems is processed simultaneously to obtain the respective first and second charging components. The first and second charging components are combined to obtain a total charge. A prepaid balance is then decreased during the communications based on the total charge.
Abstract:
A system and method of real-time interconnect billing to facilitate invoicing and reconciliation between interconnected communication and service providers. The fully customizable, scalable, and network-based system rates and monitors costs, incorporates agreements between interconnected providers, invoices, bills, and reconciles to establish an accurate and cost-effective accounting of provider revenues and costs. The system is able to communicate with devices, networks, and interconnect providers to obtain, provide and exchange billing information and payments. The system updates subscriber accounts and alerts the home provider, subscribers, interconnect providers and users of these updates.
Abstract:
Centralized billing is provided by processing requests for pre-paid and post-paid services at a service control point that is configured to prepare one or more associated event records. Event records associated with provided services can be stored at the service control point or in a remote database, or the service control point can direct the event records to a central billing system that is configured to bill subscribers directly or to transmit event records to one or more payment systems via a financial gateway. Service control point service logic is configured to permit negative account balances for post-paid subscribers, while account balances remain positive for pre-paid subscribers. Credit limits can be associated with post-paid subscribers, and service authorization can be based on such credit limits.
Abstract:
A method and system for accounting for data services provided using a telecommunications network (fig. 1) . The method includes maintaining data services entitlement accounts which are denominated in units of multiple categories of data services (database 104).
Abstract:
A system and method for a web-based, convergent communications billing solution for large-scale customers/users is disclosed. The environment in which the present invention is used encompasses the general Internet environment, with connections to Banks and other similar payment mechanisms, connections to multiple carriers/users to obtain legacy files and to provide results and analysis capabilities to these same carriers/users, and encompasses modern computing and server technology to process the data, create the integrated bills, process payments and adjustments and provide the required reports to the customers and multiple carriers participating.
Abstract:
According to the illustrated embodiment, the authentication of a cellular network customer in a LAN hotspot area is made possible by a Sign-up server (SUP). The customer enters his cellular phone number (MSISDN) and the SUP contacts the cellular network's HLR via GGSN to get customer identification information (MSIN). SUP creates an account in the system of the LAN network. The generated account details are sent to the users' cellular terminal, e.g. by SMS or e-mail. The usage of LAN services is calculated and the resulting billing information, CDR:s including the MSIN ID, is sent to the cellular network billing system and the customer gets billed by their cellular network operator .
Abstract:
A system (700) manages the operations of an integrated communications provider. One aspect of the system is a work flow engine. The work flow engine decomposes the service model into sub-model components based upon whether crossing of plural networks is appropriate to provide requested telecommunication services and which service providers are available to provide service consistent with the location of the customer. The work flow engine also creates a telecommunications design (713) from the sub-model components based on order rules of the service providers. The system automatically retrieves customer service records (703) and preparing sales proposals based on those records. The system includes a gateway to incumbent local exchange carriers and trading partner (715) service providers. The system incorporates features that automate comparisons between existing services and proposed services, optimizing on-net and off-net services, creation of cutover reports, issuance of service requests to local exchange carriers and trading partners (715), and alarming of failures of confirmations.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is provided for defining rules in a general-purpose rules engine and applying those rules to the rating of usage records, optionally using external data sets, without reprogramming the engine. Available inputs, data sets, and required outputs are defined and rules are entered into a spreadsheet. The rules are extracted and compiled, then executed. The method and apparatus are applicable to any service that requires billing or other business response based on customer usage of the service(s).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method, computer program products, and a by computer readable medium, to manage transactions between a user and one or more participants via a network, where the participants offer some kind of service to the user. The services can be independent of the network, and services which are offered from different participants can be quite different from each other. The user's utilization of respective service is compiled/put together by a reporting unit.
Abstract:
A system and method of providing a prepaid subscriber service to a mobile subscriber in an integrated wireless telecommunications network (10) having a circuit-switched portion and a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) packet-switched portion. A prepaid subscriber class (PPSC) (40) is stored in a home location register (HLR)(16), and the PPSC is sent from the HLR to a serving mobile switching center (MSC) (11) when the subscriber registers in the circuit-switched portion of the network. The PPSC is sent from the HLR to a serving GPRS support node (SGSN)(12) when the subscriber registers in the packet-switched portion of the network. Also, the PPSC may be sent from the SGSN to a Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) (25) in order to indicate that the subscriber is a prepaid subscriber. When the mobile subscriber begins a packet-switched data session, the SGSN, GGSN, or both periodically send partial call data records (CDRs) to a prepaid center (PPC)(19). When the mobile subscriber begins a circuit-switched call, the MSC periodically sends partial CDRs to the PPC. The PPC calculates in near real time, a new account balance for the prepaid subscriber. The current call is disconnected, and prepaid services are stopped when the account balance is reduced to zero.
