Abstract:
A sheet of implantable patch tissue repair material having the form of a layer of porous polytetrafluoroethylene sheet material laminated to a layer of mesh-type sheet material having a multiplicity of openings through the mesh-type sheet material, said openings having a mean minimum diameter of about 0.1 mm. The inventive patch tissue repair material offers good strength characteristics, good biocompatibility, suture retention, and flexibility.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a filtration member (1) which is mainly used in a layered filter for forming a filter cake. A layer-settling structure comprises an optional metallic material and includes a plurality of thin openings (3). In order to improve the layer-settling process, the settling structure comprises a thin plate (2) or a film in which openings (3) are formed during the formation of expanded metal, wherein said openings are further bent so as to obtain slots of a predetermined width (B). The expanded metal then recovers its initial shape under a mechanical action so as to form slots with a given width. The openings (3) have a slightly conical shape which is widening in the flow direction.
Abstract:
A sheet product is provided which comprises a scrim (1 and 2) embedded in a continuous layer of a foamed resin (3). The sheet material is useful as a drawer liner or a shelf liner and is fabricated without need for lamination of separate layers to a scrim material.
Abstract:
The present invention provides roofing membrane that increases wind resistance by having at least two sheets of scrim material (10) that is between an upper layer (12) and a lower layer (14). The upper and lower layers (12 and 14) may be a thermoplastic or other material appropriate for use in a roofing membrane.
Abstract:
An impact resistant roofing shingle which includes an asphalt coated substrate whose unexposed surface is laminated to an organic film. A process of forming that shingle includes the step of applying an organic film, by spraying a latex, by applying a rubber polymer modified asphalt, by compressing a plastic film having a higher melting or decomposition temperature than the melting point of the asphalt coating or by applying an adhesive to which a plastic film is applied to the unexposed surface of the asphalt coated substrate.
Abstract:
A sealing material of polytetrafluoroethylene felt is encapsulated by a polytetrafluoroethylene sheet coated with a thermoplastic fluoropolymer.

Abstract:
A fabric comprising elongated steel elements is provided. This fabric is to be used to provide cut-resistance or reinforcement for protective textiles. Elongated steel elements are in contact relationship, so improving the resistance to knife cutting actions.
Abstract:
An article, such as a filter or film, has a treated laminate with an expanded PTFE membrane and a porous support scrim. The treated laminate is formed by contacting a laminate having an expanded PTFE membrane and a porous support scrim with an oleophobic treatment agent dissolved in an organic solvent. The oleophobic treatment agent is deposited onto the expanded PTFE membrane and porous support scrim as the organic solvent is removed. The oleophobic treatment agent is typically a fluoropolymer. The article can be used, for example, as a filter over a port in a housing of an electronics or other device.
Abstract:
Dual glass fibers can be processed into coherent webs and felts by first blending the dual glass fibers with an equal or greater amount of uncrimped fibers. Optionally, other crimped fibers can be added without significant impact on processibility.
