Un procédé de synthèse d'un composé répondant à la formule [Chem I] ce procédé comprenant au moins les étapes suivantes : a) la condensation du composé benzaldéhyde de formule [Chem II] avec la dialkylaniline de formule [Chem III] pour donner le triphénylméthane de formule [Chem IV], b) le traitement du triphénylméthane de formule [Chem IV] par de l'acide sulfurique pour former le triphénylméthane sulfoné de formule [Chem V] c) l'oxydation du triphénylméthane sulfoné de formule [Chem V] par une quinone. The invention relates to a method of enhancing conversion of alkali metal salt, preferably aqueous salt, preferably aqueous sodium salt of N-methyl taurine to alkyl taurate amides. In one aspect, the starting salt is pre-concentrated (at least 75% up to 99% taurine salt in the aqueous solutions after water is removed from a starting aqueous solution of the salt) and, in another aspect, the starting salt is not pre-concentrated.

The method utilizes the addition of metals salts to a crude sulfonation solution of 5-sulfoisophthalic acid.

Sulfo-estolides and methods of making them are described. Useful methods include acid side bleaching, partial hydrogenation of the fatty acid, pretreatment of the fatty acid to provide color inhibition, acid side hydrolysis of the sulfo-estolides, or conversion of SHP to an essentially fully hydrolyzed product (HSHP) or a partially hydrolyzed product (PHSHP). Detergent formulations, such as laundry detergents, softeners, and other materials, containing any of these materials are disclosed. Laundry methods employing these formulations are also disclosed. These formulations are useful as laundry detergents and can be biodegradable, heavy duty liquids, 2X or 3X and up to 6X concentrates, low foaming, and/or effective in a high efficiency washing machine. Methods for laundering fabrics with the compositions are also disclosed.
