摘要: A method for preparing a nano suspension lubricant comprises providing substantially spherical nano particles of size ranging from about less than 50 nanometers to about 100 nanometers. The method further comprises mixing the nano particles and a surfactant in about 1:1 ratio in a solvent to form a mixture. The solvent is evaporated from the mixture to obtain surface modified nano particles. The surface modified nano particles include the nano particles coated with the surfactant. The method comprises mixing the surface modified nano particles with a lubricating fluid to form the nano suspension lubricant, where the lubricating fluid comprises about 90% to 99% base oil and about 1% to 10% additives.

摘要: Provided is a viscosity index improver including a comb-shaped polymer and satisfying the following requirement (I) or (II). Requirement (I): With respect to a solution having the viscosity index improver dissolved in a mineral oil and having a solid component concentration of 25 mass%, a ratio [(G')/(G")] of a storage modulus (G') to a loss modulus (G") of the solution as measured under prescribed conditions with a measuring temperature of 70°C is 0.40 or more. Requirement (II): With respect to a solution (±) at 25°C having the viscosity index improver dissolved in a mineral oil and having a solid component concentration of 25 mass% and a solution (²) resulting from subjecting the solution (±) to temperature rise to 100°C at a prescribed temperature rise rate and then cooling to 25°C at a prescribed cooling rate, a ratio of a storage modulus (G') of the solution (²) to a storage modulus (G') of the solution (±) as measured under prescribed conditions with a measuring temperature of 25°C is 2.0 or more.

摘要: A process for preparing high VI lubricating oil basestocks comprising hydrotreating, hydrodewaxing and optionally hydrofinishing. The hydrotreating step is under conditions such that the amount of conversion to 343° C. minus is less than 5 wt. % of the feedstock and the VI increase is less than 4 VI over the feedstock. Hydrodewaxing uses a low alpha catalyst and hydrofinishing is accomplished with a catalyst based on the M41S family.

The antioxidant has the structure: wherein each X is independently CH or N, so long as at least one X is N. A is an electron donating group that (1) has an atom having at least one lone pair of electrons that is bonded directly to the aromatic ring or (2) is an aryl or alkyl group. Z is chosen from a hydrogen atom and an electron donating group that has an atom having at least one lone pair of electrons that is bonded directly to the aromatic ring or is an aryl or alkyl group.

摘要: The invention relates to antioxidant compositions for lubricants and organic polymers comprising a first antioxidant comprising a reaction product of p-cresol, dicyclopentadiene and isobutylene; and a second antioxidant comprising a diarylamine. The first antioxidant preferably has the structure: wherein n is 0-50, and R1 and R2 are independently hydrogen, a straight or branched C1-C30 alkyl or alkylene group optionally substituted with one or more substituents, C3-C12 cycloalkyl, C5-C12 aryl, or C6-C12 alkylaryl. The second antioxidant preferably has the formula: (R3)a—Ar1—NH—Ar2—(R4)b wherein Ar1 and Ar2 are independently aromatic hydrocarbon groups and R3 and R4 are independently hydrogen or hydrocarbyl groups having from 6 to about 100 carbon atoms and a and b are independently 0 to 3 but (a+b) is not greater than 4.
