It is an object of the present invention to improve drawbacks in conventional technology and provide a fiber-reinforced composite material having both an excellent static strength property and impact resistance, and an epoxy resin composition for obtaining the fiber-reinforced composite material. More particularly, it is the object of the present invention to provide the epoxy resin composition that gives a cured material having a high elastic modulus, a high heat resistance, a high plastic deformation capacity and a high toughness. The epoxy resin composition containing following [A] to [D], a prepreg obtained by impregnating a fiber substrate with the epoxy resin composition, a fiber-reinforced composite material obtained by curing the prepreg and a tubular body thereof. [A] 10 to 60 parts by weight of an amine type epoxy resin, [B] 40 to 90 parts by weight of a bisphenol-type epoxy resin, [C] 1 to 10 parts by weight of dicyandiamide or a derivative thereof, and [D] 1 to 10 parts by weight of at least one block copolymer selected from the group consisting of S-B-M, B-M and M-B-M.

A structural adhesive composition that is suitable for high-strength bonding of metals and aerospace structural materials. In one embodiment, the structural adhesive composition based on a two-part system, which is curable at or below 200°F (93 °C). The two-part system is composed of a resinous part (A) and a catalyst part (B), which may be stored separately at room temperature until they are ready to be used. The resinous part (A) includes at least two different multifunctional epoxy resins with different functionality selected from difunctional, trifunctional, and tetrafunctional epoxy resins, certain toughening components, and inorganic filler particles as a rheology/thixotrophy modifying component. The toughening components include core-shell rubber particles with different particle sizes and at least one of an elastomeric polymer and a polyethersulfone polymer. The catalyst part (B) includes an aliphatic or cyclic amine compound as a curing agent and inorganic filler as a rheology/thixotropy modifying component. The weight ratio of part (A) to part (B) is within the range of 3:2 to 10:2. In another embodiment, the structural adhesive composition is based on a one-part system which includes the components of the resinous part (A) in the two-part system mixed with a latent amine curing agent. The one-part system may further include an imidazole and/or an aliphatic amine. The one-part system is curable within the temperature range of 140-300°F (60-150°C). The paste adhesive disclosed herein has film-like properties and is particularly useful in rapid-assembly aerospace structure bonding applications.

The present invention is directed to a method of forming a laminate absorbent structure, and a resulting package containing a single continuous running web of the laminate material. Notably, formation of the material is effected by blending a curtain of adhesive fibers with a curtain of particulate material, and depositing the mixture on a moving substrate, preferably provided in the form of a tissue layer. A second substrate, also preferably comprising a tissue layer, is applied on top of the deposited mixture, and pressure applied to form the laminated structure. Notably, attendant to packaging of the laminated material, adjacent layers of the material tend to nest into one another, to form a sandwich in which the density of the material in the package is more than 1.5 times the density of the material after its removal from the package.
