An organic electroluminescence device which comprises at least one organic thin film layer comprising a light emitting layer sandwiched between a pair of electrode consisting of an anode and a cathode, wherein at least one of the organic thin film layer comprises the aromatic amine derivative singly or as its mixture component. Organic electroluminescence devices having a long lifetime and a high efficiency of light emission, and aromatic amine derivatives capable of realizing such organic EL devices are provided.

An organic electroluminescence device having a low driving voltage and a long life and a material having a small ionization potential and providing a large hole mobility when used as a layer or region are disclosed. The organic electroluminescence device is characterized in that the device comprises a pair of electrodes and an organic luminescent layer sandwiched between the electrodes, a hole transport region between the electrodes contains a phenylenediamine derivative expressed by a specific structural formula and having a hole mobility of 10-1 cm2/V•s or more when used as a material of a layer or region, and the organic luminescent layer contains a charge injection assisting material.

A 1,3,5-tris(arylamino)benzene represented by the general formula (I): (I) wherein A represents naphthyl, anthryl, phenanthryl, biphenylyl, or terphenylyl and R represents C1-6 alkyl or C5-6 cycloalkyl. This 1,3,5-tris(arylamino)benzene has an oxidation potential of about 0.5 to 0.6 V and has excellent reversibility in oxidation/reduction processes. It can form an amorphous film which has a high glass transition temperature and which in itself, i.e., without the aid of a binder resin, is stable at ordinary or a higher temperature. A high-performance organic semiconductor film can be formed which is stable and highly durable and consists of the amorphous film.
