    摘要: An improvement to a turbocharger having a housing (10) with a slot (25) located along a mid-line of the housing (10) above the turbine wheel (29) 10 and a tongue (15) defining the end of an initial inlet throat area (11) of the housing (10), the slot (25) permitting inlet exhaust gas which flows past the tongue (15) to flow into the turbine wheel (29), the improvement being a pivoting vane (50) aligned with the slot (25) and having an upstream end (55) located at a downstream end (57) of the tongue (15). When the vane (50) is in its fully closed position (60), the inlet exhaust gas is prevented from flowing into the slot (25) and, therefore, the turbine wheel (29), until the inlet exhaust gas passes the downstream end (57) of the vane (50). The vane (50) effectively extends the tongue (15) to define a revised inlet throat area (12). The A/R ratio of the housing (10) progressively varies as the vane (50) pivots between the fully opened (70) and fully closed (60) positions.

    摘要: There is provided a variable capacity turbine (1) that is capable of suppressing separation from an outer peripheral face of an involute dividing wall at an inlet portion of an outer scroll, enhancing performance, and increasing a flow rate. The variable capacity turbine (1) includes: a turbine housing (3) having an involuted scroll (2) formed therein; a turbine wheel (4) rotatably provided on an inner periphery side of the scroll (2); the involute dividing wall (7) mounted on the turbine housing (3) to divide the scroll (2) into an inner scroll (5) and the outer scroll (6); and a flow regulating valve (12) for opening and closing an introducing port (14) formed at an inlet end of the outer scroll (6). The inlet portion of the outer scroll (6) is formed to have a continuous and gentle throttle flow path from an upstream side to a downstream side.

The sheet-metal turbine housing 1 includes a member on a side of a bearing housing in which a bearing supporting a rotation shaft of a turbine rotor blade 50 is arranged; a member on a flow exhaust side which forms an outer side of the turbine rotor blade 50 in a direction of the turbine; and support columns 21, 40 which connect the member on the side of the bearing housing with the member on the flow exhaust side in an axial direction of the turbine and which are arranged at intervals on an outer circumferential side of the turbine rotor in a circumferential direction of the turbine rotor blade 50. Each of the support columns 21, 40 may have a cross-sectional shape in the axial direction of the turbine which includes an upstream corner and a downstream corner in a direction of a gas flow each of which has an acute angle, θ1, θ2 so that an upstream surface 32 and a downstream surface 34 incline along the gas flow.
