Disclosed is the use of compositions of ethylene copolymers, polyolefins (for example, polyethylene and polypropylene), tackifiers and optional fillers that provide strong hermetic adhesion to impact-modified acrylonitrile-methylacrylate copolymers. These compositions are useful as an adhesive layer in multilayer structures prepared by coextrusion, extrusion coating and extrusion lamination. Also disclosed are packages, such as thermoformed blister packs, rigid containers and pouches that comprise these multilayer structures.

Provided are a non-halogen flame retardant epoxy resin composition comprising (A) a silicon-containing, phosphorus-modified epoxy resin, (B) a multifunctional epoxy resin, (C) a mixed curing agent of an amine curing agent and a phenolic curing agent and (D) a metal hydrate inorganic flame retardant, and a prepreg and copper-clad laminate using the same. The epoxy resin composition in accordance with the present invention exhibits excellent flame retardancy without use of a halogen flame retardant, and also advantageously provides well-balanced various physical properties which are to be required in copper-clad laminates, such as higher heat resistance and copper peel strength, and lead heat-resistant characteristics after moisture absorption.

A permeable, propylene-containing film structure including a core layer containing a propylene polymer matrix that has been cavitated by a two-component cavitation system, wherein the first component of the two-component cavitation system is a beta-nucleating agent to produce the beta-crystalline form of polypropylene and the second component is a filler. The film structure also includes first and second thermoplastic skin layers on either side of the core layer, respectively. A method of manufacturing a permeable propylene-containing film structure, including: forming a melt containing a propylene polymer, a beta-nucleating agent and a filler; cooling the melt to form a film layer; and stretching the film layer. The film structure has a water vapor transmission rate greater than 300 g/m 2 /day and a Gurley air permeability less than 3,000 s/10 cc.

This invention provides a polymer film coating for use with cold glue labels, particularly on the adhesive-receiving side of a label film. The coating is resistant to both water and solvent, and includes a filler component and a binder component, at least one of which is hydrophobic. The coating imparts water resistance and solvent resistance to an adhered label, thereby improving resistance to label removal due to moisture or water contact, such as ice chest immersion. The coating optionally may be applied to the print face of the label to impart wet-scratch resistance and permit a balanced coating application. A coated label and method of applying the coating to a label film are also included.

A water permeable and liquid hydrocarbon-impermeable textile barrier is provided. The textile barrier consists of a textile material as a substrate layer, a layer of a hydrophobic organic chemical swellable in liquid hydrocarbons and a cover layer consisting of a textile material. All three layers are combined together by the needlepunching process in a needle loom. The textile barrier does not significantly obstruct flow of water. The textile barrier allows water to freely drain through.

An armor composite material has been invented which contains a fabric which has been impregnated with shear thickening fluid. This invention offers a ballistic resistant material that is more flexible and less bulky than comparable, conventional ballistic fabric. The material in the alternative can be puncture resistant. The invented material offers superior ballistic performance and/or puncture resistance compared to conventional ballistic fabric-based materials of equal thickness. The invented material can be applied to applications requiring armor that is compact and/or flexible, such as body armor, protective clothing and flexible protective devices and shields, and stab resistant clothing and devices.
