摘要: A ratio selector mechanism has a first fluid pressure operated actuator (14) which moves the selector member (10) in a first direction to engage one of a number of ratio shift rails (11,12,13) and a second fluid pressure operated actuator (15) which moves the selector member (10) in a second direction to longitudinally displace the engaged shift rail (11,12,13) to engage an associated selector ratio, the mechanism including a valve means which is associated with the first actuator (14) and varies the pressure of fluid to the second actuator (15) in accordance with the position of the first actuator (14).

摘要: A clutch control system for the automatic control of a motor vehicle with a clutch (14), an engine (10) with a gearbox (12) under the control of a driver-operated gear ratio selector lever (24). The control system includes an electronic control unit (36) which controls initial clutch take-up on starting of the vehicle, clutch re-engagement following each ratio change, clutch disengagement on movement of the gear selector lever to change the operative ratio of the gearbox, and clutch disengagement on the coming to rest etc of the vehicle. The control system also incorporates an automatic calibration routine, said routine comprising a predetermined sequence of events (A to U) in which the system responds to actions (B,L,P3,R3) of the operator and at predetermined points (K, N, P11, T) in the calibration routine advises the operator that the system is ready to proceed to the next stage of the calibration.

摘要: An actuation system particularly for a vehicle clutch, in which a source of pressurised fluid is interconnected with a slave cylinder (11) via a displacement means (12). The displacement means (12) includes a component which is displaced by the pressurised fluid from the source to provide a displacement proportional to the actuating movement of the slave cylinder (11) caused by the pressurised fluid, and a sensing means is provided which is operable to measure the displacement to indicate the actuating movement of the slave. Various displacement means in the form of valves are disclosed together with a mechanism for interconnecting the operation of a vehicle clutch and throttle.

摘要: A vehicle fluid pressure supply system in which a fluid pressure supply pump (10) is connected via solenoid-operated flow control valve (15) with a plurality of separate fluid pressure operated circuits (A, B, C) each operating separate functions of the vehicle. Detectors (25, 26, 27, 30 to 35) are provided for detecting the current operative state and the fluid pressure supply status of each circuit, and an electrical control unit (28) means which receives signals from the detectors operates the control valve to direct available pump flow to the appropriate circuit to maintain each circuit at least at a minimum pressure level required to operate the associated function.

摘要: A gear position sensor arrangement to indicate which gear ratio has been engaged in a change speed mechanism. The arrangement includes an indicating formation (19) which is connected with a portion (11) of a ratio selector mechanism of the change speed mechanism which moves in a first linear sense (X) and in a second rotary sense (Y) during selection of each gear ratio, and a sensing formation in the form of a cam surface (28) of a cam (20) which is moved in a third linear sense (Z) as a result of the movement of the indicating formation in said first and second senses to provide an indication as to the currently engaged gear ratio of the change speed mechanism via a linear sensing probe (26).

摘要: A clutch control system for the automatic control of a motor vehicle clutch (14) which connects an engine (10) with a gearbox (12) under the control of a driver-operated gear ratio selector member (24). The control system includes an electronic control unit (36) which controls the level of clutch engagement in response to an engine speed error signal (E) derived from a comparison of current engine speed (Ve) and a reference speed signal (Vr) generated by the control unit. A sensing means (19a) is provided to detect a "foot-off" condition of an engine controlling accelerator pedal (19) and to provide an indication of the full range of movement of the accelerator pedal from the "foot-off" condition to the fully depressed position. The electronic control unit (36) responds to an accelerator pedal "foot-off" signal to ensure that the reference speed signal is above the engine idle signal by a predetermined amount to prevent creeping of the associated vehicle due to partial clutch engagement at engine idle. In the "foot-on" condition of the accelerator pedal the reference speed signal is switched to a level determined by accelerator pedal position which is close to engine idle speed at low levels of accelerator pedal depression so that the clutch will engage to a torque transmitting level thus allowing the vehicle to be manoeuvred at low engine speeds.

摘要: A method of determining, during a clutch re-engagement process, the kiss-point of a vehicle clutch (14) having a driven plate (40) which drives a vehicle from an engine (10) via a multi-ratio transmission (12). The clutch is operated via a clutch actuating mechanism (20, 22) under the control of an electronic control means (36) using a method comprising the steps of: checking that the throttle (18) of the engine is closed and that the vehicle is in an engine overrun condition; partially re-engaging the clutch (14) up to a point (Y) where the clutch increases the engine speed to a substantially constant level below the speed of the driven plate (40) of the clutch; measuring (34) the position of the clutch actuating mechanism (20, 22) when in said partially engaged condition; computing from said position measurement(s) and the known engagement/torque characteristics (T1, T2, T3) of the clutch the current kiss-point position (T); saving said current kiss-point position (T), and completing the engagement of the clutch.

摘要: An automatically operated clutch (3) between a motor vehicle's engine (2) and gearbox (4) is moved by a hydraulic actuator (8), which acts on the clutch release, from a fully disengaged position through positions in which clutch slip occurs into a fully engaged position. A point of contact on the clutch at which transmission of engine torque begins is determined and the corresponding position of the actuator (8) stored. In the region above the contact point within which no torque is transmitted, the position of the actuator is adjusted by a position control circuit (70), while in the region below the contact point in which torque is transmitted, an engine speed control circuit (78) is superimposed on the actuator position control circuit. The engine speed at the point of contact is adjusted to a figure somewhat (approx. 50 r.p.m.) above the speed of the clutch (output) shaft. The actuator (8) is adjusted to the position corresponding to the contact point by the position control circuit (70) on which the speed control circuit (78) is superimposed.
