The present invention relates to a poly-gamma-glutamate (PGA) having an ultra-high molecular weight greater than 5,000 kDa. The ultra-high molecular weight PGA according to the present invention has a mean molecular weight greater than 13,000 kDa, and more than 95% of its molecules have a molecular weight ranging from 3,000 to 15,000 kDa. Also, it can be produced by the culturing of Bacillus subtilis var. chungkookjang. The ultra-high molecular weight PGA according to the present invention shows very excellent moisture-absorbing, moisture-retaining, sustained release, mineral solubility, and water-absorbing properties, and thus, can be used as a new and high value-added material in various applications.

The present invention relates to an adjuvant composition containing poly-gamma-glutamic acid-chitosan nanoparticles and a vaccine composition containing the adjuvant composition, and more particularly to an adjuvant composition containing nanoparticles prepared by ionic bonding between poly-gamma-glutamic acid having ensured safety and chitosan, and a vaccine composition containing the poly-gamma-glutamic acid-chitosan nanoparticles and an antigen. The adjuvant containing the poly-gamma-glutamic acid-chitosan nanoparticles has little or no toxicity and side effects and is added to human or animal vaccines for the prevention and treatment of viral and bacterial infections and cancers to increase the production of antibodies.

Namely, an isolated DNA having a base sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 or 2 in Sequence Listing or its fragment showing a constitutive promoter activity in Escherichia coli or bacteria belonging to the genus Bacillus ; an isolated DNA hybridizable with the above DNA and showing a constitutive promoter activity in Escherichia coli or bacteria belonging to the genus Bacillus ; a recombinant DNA wherein the above DNA and a foreign gene are provided in such a state as enabling the expression of the foreign gene; a vector for gene expression which contains at least the above DNA; an expression vector containing the above recombinant DNA; a transformed cells carrying the above recombinant DNA or the above expression vector; a process for producing a protein which comprises culturing the above transformed cell and collecting the protein from the culture medium thus obtained; and a kit for producing a protein which contains at least the above DNA or the above vector for gene expression.
