摘要: A medical apparatus includes a shaft for insertion into an organ of a patient, an expandable frame, a plurality of diagnostic electrodes, a respective plurality of reference electrodes, and a processor. The expandable frame is coupled to a distal end of the shaft, extending along a longitudinal axis and including a plurality of expandable spines disposed about the longitudinal axis. The plurality of diagnostic electrodes, disposed on external surfaces of the expandable spines, are configured to sense diagnostic signals when in contact with tissue. The respective plurality of reference electrodes, disposed on internal surfaces of the expandable spines directly opposite the diagnostic electrodes, is electrically insulated from the tissue and is configured to sense interfering signals. The processor is configured to receive the diagnostic signals sensed by the diagnostic electrodes, receive the interfering signals sensed by the respective reference electrodes, and calculate corrected diagnostic signals by subtracting the interfering signals from the diagnostic signals.

摘要: Medical apparatus includes an elongate probe for insertion into a body of a patient. The probe includes an ablation element and an acoustic transducer disposed at a distal end of the probe. An array of acoustic sensors is placed over the body. While the distal end of the probe is positioned in a target location in the body, a control unit drives the acoustic transducer in a training phase to emit an acoustic signal, receives electrical signals from the acoustic sensors in response to the acoustical signal, and processes the electrical signals so as to derive a phase profile focused at the target location. In an operational phase, the control unit drives the ablation element to ablate tissue in the body at the target location, and receives and filters the electrical signals from the acoustic sensors using the phase profile so as to detect acoustical activity at the target location.

摘要: Methods and apparatuses provide improved navigation through tubular networks such as lung airways by providing improved estimation of location and orientation information of a medical instrument (e.g., an endoscope) within the tubular network. Various input data such as image data, EM data, and robot data are used by different algorithms to estimate the state of the medical instrument, and the state information is used to locate a specific site within a tubular network and/or to determine navigation information for what positions/orientations the medical instrument should travel through to arrive at the specific site. Probability distributions together with confidence values are generated corresponding to different algorithms are used to determine the medical instrument's estimated state.

摘要: A system and method for controlling the insertion of a medical tool, such as a needle, into a subject's body based on measurements of an interaction parameter associated with the interaction between the tool and a bodily tissue, such as the forces exerted on the tool during insertion. The system comprises an insertion device, at least one sensor configured to measure the interaction parameter and at least one processor configured to receive sensor measurements, detect one or more predefined patterns in the sensor measurements and control an operation of at least one of the insertion device and an imaging device, upon detecting the predefined patterns. The processor may be configured to compare the actual correlation between the sensor measurements and an insertion parameter, such as insertion depth, with an expected correlation, and determine if the medical tool is following its pre-planned trajectory based on the result of that comparison.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for processing medical images to generate information useful for planning or guiding revision surgeries, designing implants for use in revisions surgeries, or generally evaluating the bone architecture of a subject. The medical images may be x-ray images, such as those acquired with a computed tomography (“CT”) system, magnetic resonance images, such as those acquired with a magnetic resonance imaging (“MRI”) system, or ultrasound images, such as those acquired with an ultrasound imaging system. The images can also be fused together, or otherwise combined, to produce combined images that enhance the depiction of an instrument or implant in the subject relative to the uncombined images.

摘要: Intraoperative camera data is registered with medical scan data. The same salient features are located in both the medical scan data and the model from the camera data. The features are specifically labeled rather than just being represented by the data. At least an initial rigid registration is performed using the salient features. The coordinate systems of the camera and the medical scan data are aligned without external positions sensors for the intraoperative camera.
