Abstract:
Devices and methods related to devices capable to perform digital output power measurement besides attenuation control are provided. A device includes a digital signal processing unit, a transmitter and a feedback receiver. The digital signal processing unit is configured to control attenuation along a transmission path and a feedback path based on a comparison of a power of a digital input signal with a raw power of a corresponding digital feedback signal, and to calculate an output power value of an analog RF signal to be broadcasted, using the raw power of the digital feedback signal and one or more feedback gain factors related to gain in the feedback receiver.
Abstract:
At least one tone is generated. An output signal is generated in response to an input signal and the at least one tone. The output signal is modulated. The input signal and the at least one tone are represented in the modulated output signal. The at least one tone is outside a bandwidth of the input signal as represented in the modulated output signal. The modulated output signal is amplified. The at least one tone in the amplified signal is attenuated after the amplifying.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a compound transmitter having power efficiency characteristics and distortion characteristics superior, over a wide band, to those of a Doherty transmitter, and having fewer elements constituting an RF circuit. The present invention is therefore provided with a compound amplifier (201) for generating a signal (z) (efficiency improving signal) obtained by the amplitude modulation of a carrier signal from an RF modulation signal (a) (main signal); power-modulating, using two power amplifiers (50, 51), a signal (S1) obtained by adding together (a) and (z), and a signal (S2) obtained by subtracting (z) from (a); and setting, as a transmitter output point, the point (p1) where the respective outputs are combined via impedance inverters (60, 61), the efficiency improving signal (z) being generated under conditions in which the size of the envelope of either (S1) or (S2) is fixed.
Abstract:
Techniques for designing baseband processing circuitry for radio IC's. In an aspect, techniques for differential-to-single-ended conversion in a baseband portion of the IC are disclosed to reduce the pin count and package size for RF IC's. In another aspect, the converter includes selectable narrowband and wideband amplifiers, wherein the wideband amplifiers may be implemented using transistor devices having smaller area than corresponding transistor devices of narrowband amplifiers. Further techniques for bypassing one or more elements, and for implementing a low-pass filter of the converter using an R-C filter network, are described.
