Abstract: 過給域においてEGRを開始する場合には、EGR制御弁(21)の開弁により第1の所定位置におけるEGR率が変化するタイミングT1でウエストゲート弁(17)の開度を変更する。非過給域においてEGRを開始する場合には、EGR制御弁(21)の開弁により第2の所定位置におけるEGR率が変化するタイミングT2でスロットル弁(5)の開度を変更する。これにより、過給域、非過給域の区別なく、EGRの開始時にトルク段差が発生してしまうことを抑制することができる。

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid an interference of an intake valve with a piston without limiting a target value of each variable mechanism. SOLUTION: A control device includes two variable valve mechanisms which make valve lift characteristics of an intake valve variable, and a variable valve mechanism for changing a top dead center position of piston. An actuator of each mechanism is drive-controlled normally toward a target value set depending on engine operating condition. The control device detects actual operating position of each actuator for each predetermined arithmetic interval (S11), and predicts a minimum distance ΔPB between piston and valve in the vicinity of an exhaust top dead center point (S12), in consideration of the actual working position and its operating speed and operating direction. The control device determines whether the ΔPB is smaller than a predetermined threshold value ΔPBs (S13). Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-ignition type internal combustion engine in which main ignition is conducted by performing self-ignition combustion for at least a part of fuel injected inside a cylinder by a fuel injector, wherein additional fuel is injected inside the cylinder in an expansion stroke or an exhaust stroke so as to enrich the air-fuel ratio of exhaust gas and to prevent quickening the ignition timing in the cycle after carrying out the additional fuel injection in the deposition purification of NOx trapped in an NOx trap. SOLUTION: In the cycle after carrying out the additional fuel injection, the parameter controlling the ignition timing in the main combustion is changed in the ignition timing lag phase direction in comparison with that in normal operating conditions. In the concrete, the air-fuel ration within the main combustion area is leaned by decrease of the fuel injection amount, spark advance of fuel injection timing or the like.
