Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are disclosed for implementing a water saving mechanism. In one aspect, a reservoir is provided to collect cold water while hot water is being heated. Once a desired temperature is reached, a valve is actuated to allow water to bypass the reservoir and be dispensed through a shower head. The reservoir can be used to dispense the cold water at a later time.
Abstract:
An implantable device applies and controls a neural stimulus. The device has a plurality of electrodes, and a stimulus source for providing a stimulus to be delivered from the electrodes to a neural pathway in order to evoke an action potential on the neural pathway, such as the spinal cord. A control unit controls application of a neural stimulus as defined by a set of parameter values and measures via measurement circuitry an evoked neural compound action potential response. The control unit determines from the measured evoked response a feedback variable, and compares it to a therapy map. The therapy map defines a therapeutic relationship of control variable to feedback variable. One or more of the stimulus parameter values are altered to effect the required change in the control variable. This process is performed iteratively to improve alignment of the feedback variable with the therapy map over time.
Abstract:
A method for measuring motion from biological imaging data including collecting non-carrier data images; patterning the non-carrier data images with synthetic carrier properties; and processing the patterned non-carrier data images with a carrier based motion tracking technique to generate images representing motion measurements. The method preferably converts images lacking a carrier signal to ones with a synthetic carrier signal such that highly accurate and robust speckle tracking can be achieved.
Abstract:
A carving pin, a method for using the carving pin to carve a cooked roast, and a system for carving a cooked roast comprising the carving pin are provided. The carving pin comprises a base and a spike member connected to the base at about a 90° angle at about the center of the base, protruding upwards from the base. The spike member comprises a spike member end and a spike member body, the spike member end being sharp (i.e., tapered such that the very top is the sharpest) and being located distal to the base, the spike member end being connected continuously to the spike member body (i.e., all in one piece). The spike member end is adapted to pierce the cooked roast such that the cooked roast traverses the spike member and rests on the base.
Abstract:
Solvents for macromolecules generally believed to be insoluble in their pristine form are identified by generation of a ‘solvent resonance’ in the relationship between solvent quality (deduced by Rayleigh scattering) and an intrinsic property of solvents. A local extreme of the solvent resonance identifies the ideal intrinsic property of an ideal solvent which may then be used to select a particular solvent or solvent combination. A solvent for graphene is used in the production of transparent conductive electrodes.
Abstract:
A system and method for transforming ultrasound data includes acquiring ultrasound data, calculating object motion from the data, modifying a processing parameter, processing the ultrasound data according to the processing parameter, and outputting the processed ultrasound data. The system and method may additionally include the calculation of a data quality metric that can additionally or alternatively be used with object motion to modify a processing parameter.
Abstract:
A device for measuring a neural response evoked by a stimulus. First and second sense electrodes are positioned at distinct locations along a neural pathway. A neural stimulus is applied and first and second recordings of a neural response evoked by the stimulus are obtained from the respective sense electrodes. The first recording and the second recording are compared to determine propagation properties of the evoked neural response.
Abstract:
An inflatable apparatus, for use in supporting a device such as a sex toy, the inflatable apparatus comprising: an inflatable portion which serves as a main structural element of the apparatus; a holding portion which extends into the inflatable portion, and which defines a holding aperture bounded by a holding surface, the holding surface being adapted for frictional engagement with a device inserted into the holding aperture, wherein the holding portion is adjustable such that such frictional engagement can be adjusted.
Abstract:
A monitoring and analysis system is disclosed that gathers and analyzes information about distributed enhanced content delivery to end user or other equipment. The system may establish communications connections along the content delivery system, filter content received from different locations of the system, and compare the received content with an expected content characteristic. Also, a radio frequency signal from the distribution network may be converted into an Internet Protocol (IP) format by a converter so that the transformed signal may be similarly analyzed as other signals from the system. A report may be consequently generated that is indicative of the received enhanced content and any detected discrepancies with respect to expected enhancement events. Identification of the enhanced content may be based on the program association table and the program map table in order to determine the packet ID of the application signals.
