Abstract: A process is disclosed for producing polyurethane-polyisocyanurate-fiber composite parts, wherein a composition comprising polyisocyanate, a mixture obtainable by introducing an alkali metal salt or alkaline earth metal salt into a compound R—NH—CO—R′ containing urethane groups, with R′ being not hydrogen and/or not COR″, a compound containing one or more epoxide groups, polyetherol having an average functionality of 1.8 to 5.0 and a hydroxyl number of 200 to 500, a chain extender, fibrous reinforcing agents and optionally further additives form a reaction mixture. The reaction mixture is applied to the fibrous reinforcing agent and caused to react to form the polyurethane-polyisocyanurate-fiber composite part. Further disclosed is a polyurethane-polyisocyanurate-fiber composite part producible by such a process, and also the use of a polyurethane-polyisocyanurate-fiber composite part as a bodywork component of vehicles, such as bumpers, fenders or roof parts, or as structural or semistructural components for vehicles or wind turbines.

Abstract: Described herein is a thermosetting resin composition, obtained from the reaction of at least: a polycarbodiimide (i), where the number of carbodiimide groups per molecule is in the range of from 1 to 10; a mixture of crystalline and amorphous polyols (ii), where the molar ratio of carbodiimide groups in the polycarbodiimide according to (i) to hydroxyl groups in the mixture according to (ii) is in the range of from 1:2 to 2:1 and where at least 25 weight-% of the mixture according to (ii) consists of at least one crystalline polyesterol, based on the overall weight of the mixture being 100 weight-%. Also described herein is a method of using the thermosetting resin composition as an adhesive, as well as processes for preparation of adhesives, an element including an adhesive layer on at least one substrate, and an adhesive film, obtained from one of the processes.

Abstract: In a process for the production of pore-free polyurethane elastomer moldings with Shore D hardness of at least 60 in accordance with DIN 53505, (a) polyesterdiol with OH number from 20 to 100 mg KOH/g and (b) a chain extender composed of diol with molar mass below 300 g/mol, is mixed with (c) isocyanate prepolymers obtainable via reaction of diisocyanate with polyesterols with functionality from 1.95 to 2.2 and with OH number from 20 to 200 mg KOH/g to form a reaction mixture. The reaction mixture is charged to a mold and hardened to form the polyurethane elastomer. Polyurethane elastomer moldings are thus obtainable by this process, and these polyurethane moldings may be used as cladding component for commercial vehicles, bodywork component in vehicle construction, or a cladding component of a machine installation.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing a thermoformable rigid polyurethane-polyamide foam having a closed-cell content of less than 70%, which comprises mixing (a) an organic polyisocyanate with (b) one or more polymeric compounds having two or more isocyanate-reactive hydrogen atoms, (c) optionally crosslinking and/or chain-extending agents, (d) one or more carboxylic acids having a functionality of 2 or more, (e) a catalyst comprising a Lewis base component, and (f) optionally auxiliaries and additives to form a reaction mixture and reacting this reaction mixture to form the rigid polyurethane-polyamide foam. The present invention further relates to a thermoformable rigid polyurethane-polyamide foam obtained by such a process and also to the use of such a thermoformable rigid polyurethane-polyamide foam for interior lining or engine compartment lining of motor vehicles.
