Abstract: A technology for improving molding properties while minimizing curling after molding in a battery packaging material comprising a laminate that is provided with a barrier layer, a heat-sealable resin layer positioned on one surface side of the barrier layer, and a polyester film positioned on the other surface side of the barrier layer. This battery packaging material is configured from at least a laminate provided with a barrier layer, a heat-sealable resin layer positioned on one surface side of the barrier layer, and a polyester film positioned on the other surface side of the barrier layer. The birefringence of the polyester film is in the range of 0.016-0.056.

When infrared absorption spectrum on the polyester film's surface in 18 directions at intervals of 10° from 0°-180° is obtained using total reflection method of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, the ratio of the maximum value and the minimum value of the ratio (Y1340/Y1410) of the absorption peak intensity Y1340 in 1340 cm−1 and the absorption peak intensity Y1410 in 1410 cm−1 in the infrared absorption spectrum is in the range of 1.4-2.7.

Abstract: A power storage device packaging material including a heat-sealable resin layer containing polypropylene and polyethylene, in which whitening and a decrease in the insulation properties due to molding are prevented. A laminate with at least a base material layer, a barrier layer, and a heat-sealable resin layer in this order from an outer side toward an inner side, wherein the heat-sealable resin layer contains polypropylene and polyethylene; a cross section of the heat-sealable resin layer in a thickness direction parallel to TD, a sea-island structure is observed in a cross-sectional image obtained with scanning electron microscope; the cross-sectional image is such that when the total thickness of a layer positioned closer to inner side than the barrier layer is taken as 100%, the cross-sectional image is obtained within a range of thicknesses of up to 12.5% from a surface opposite to the barrier layer side of the heat-sealable resin layer.
