Abstract: A multi-well assembly including a filter plate and receiver plate. Each plate includes a plurality of wells, which, when the filter plate is placed in nesting relationship with the receiver plate, each filter plate well has a corresponding receiver plate well into which it extends. The receiver plate wells are of a non-uniform cross-section in order to increase the gap between the outer walls of the filter plate wells and the inner walls of a corresponding receiver plate well when the receiver plate and filter plate are in nesting relationship. The increased gap size reduces wicking and cross-contamination. A multi-section well of maximum cross-section in an upper region and a minimized cross-section in a lower region, with a gradual transition between the regions, is thus provided. The multi-well assembly of the present invention also improves the repeatability of positioning the filter plate and receiver plate in proper nesting relationship and provides stability during handling, mixing and shaking operations.

Abstract: A clamp including a first jaw member having a camming surface, a second jaw member pivotable with respect to the first jaw member, a first biasing member biasing the first and second jaw members to a first position; and a locking mechanism that includes a cam or roller for cooperating with the camming surface of the jaw member, and a second biasing member biasing the cam or roller against the camming surface to lock the first and second jaw members in a second position. Abstract: A funnel-less filtration device that attaches directly to a storage container such as a cell culture media bottle. Optionally, the device may include a filtrate reservoir attached to the outlet, preferably by a threaded connection. Optionally, the upper opening to the filter collar is selectively and removably sealed with a lid until used. The lid is then removed the filter device inverted over a storage container such as cell culture media bottle and the two are attached via the upper opening of the filter collar. The assembly is then inverted so the supply container is above the filter device. Upon subjecting the sample in the bottle to a driving force such as vacuum, the sample flows through the filtration element, and into a filtrate reservoir below the outlet of the filter collar.

Abstract: Sample preparation device that allows for a complete bind, wash, elute, buffer-exchange and concentration process to be carried out without sample transfer between multiple devices. The device includes a reservoir, a column for holding chromatography media, a holder region for holding a filtration device, and an outlet. The filtration device plugs into the holder region of the centrifugal device, and the assembly can be placed in an optional holder. The assembly, with or without the optional holder, can be placed in a conventional centrifuge tube for centrifugation. The entire bind, wash, elute, buffer exchange and concentration steps can be carried out with the apparatus without any pipette transfers (and the associated sample losses. The sample preparation device also can be used for binding and washing steps, in which case the filtration device is not needed, and for buffer exchange and concentration steps, in which case the media is not needed.
