Abstract: A method for providing information to an occupant of a vehicle includes training a machine learning algorithm to receive a nighttime image as an input and produce an enhanced image as an output. The method also includes capturing the nighttime image of an environment surrounding the vehicle using a camera of the vehicle. The method also includes enhancing the nighttime image using the machine learning algorithm to produce the enhanced image. The method also includes identifying an object of interest in the enhanced image using a computer vision algorithm. The method also includes notifying the occupant of the vehicle about the object of interest.

Abstract: An occupant monitoring system for monitoring one or more occupants located in a seat of a vehicle includes one or more cameras positioned to capture image data representative of an occupant, one or more biometric sensors that each monitor a parameter indicative of a physiological measure of the occupant, and one or more controllers. The one or more controllers execute instructions to determine one or more physiological measures of the occupant based on the image data collected by the one or more cameras and one or more parameters indicative of the one or more physiological measures of each occupant collected by the one or more biometric sensors, and in response to determining the physiological measure exceeds either the major event threshold value or the minor event threshold value, generate a notification directed to a driver of the vehicle.

Abstract: A system for providing information to an occupant of a vehicle includes an automated driving system, a display configured to provide information to the occupant, and a controller in electrical communication with the automated driving system and the display. The controller is programmed to determine an automation confidence level for a location of interest using the automated driving system. The location of interest is a location in an environment surrounding the vehicle. The controller is further programmed to notify the occupant using the display based at least in part on the automation confidence level.

Abstract: A door handle locator system for a vehicle includes one or more modalities that provide sensory feedback to a user indicating a location of a door handle that is part of a door of the vehicle. The door handle locator system also includes one or more controllers in electronic communication with the one or more modalities. The one or more controllers execute instructions to receive a wireless signal indicating a location of the user with respect to the vehicle. The one or more controllers determine the user is approaching the vehicle based on the location of the user with respect to the vehicle. In response to determining the user is approaching the vehicle, the one or more controllers instruct the one or more modalities to provide the sensory feedback to the user indicating the location of the door handle.

Abstract: A multi-functional control, a control system, and a method of controlling a system in a vehicle. The multi-functional control includes a base plate, a post extending through a slot in the base plate, and at least two stacked knobs, rotatably and tilt-ably attached to the post. The stacked knobs include a display knob and a base knob. The multi-functional control further includes a plurality of sensors. The sensors include a first touch sensor integrated in the display knob, a second touch sensor integrated in the base knob, a first rotary sensor integrated in the display knob, a second rotary sensor integrated in the base knob, a rocker switch connected to the stacked knobs, and a push-button switch connected to the stacked knobs. The multi-functional control also includes a sliding sensor. The post and stacked knobs are mounted to the sliding sensor.

Abstract: A system for identifying hidden bodies and providing augmentation within a head up display of a vehicle including at least one front camera adapted to collect images of an environment in front of the vehicle within and adjacent to a roadway on which the vehicle is traveling, an augmented reality head up display adapted to project an image upon an inner surface of a windshield of the vehicle, an augmented reality display adapted to project an image within the windshield, the controller adapted to use a trained neural network stored therein to map images captured by the at least one front camera to light field camera images stored within the trained neural network and to identify hidden bodies within the images captured by the at least one front camera, and display, within a windshield of the vehicle, augmentation graphics for the identified hidden bodies.
