Abstract: The present disclosure is drawn to covers for electronic devices. In one example, a cover for an electronic device can include an enclosure with a light metal substrate with an opening therethrough, and a first protective coating covering the light metal substrate. A second protective coating is on the first protective coating, and a chamfered edge is present along the opening where the chamfer cuts through the first protective coating and the second protective coating to expose the light metal substrate at the chamfered edge. In one example, a transparent passivation layer is included along the chamfered edge.

Abstract: The present disclosure is drawn to an earpiece. The earpiece can include a speaker suitable for use within or adjacent to an ear canal of a user and a layered composite associated with the speaker. The layered composite can include an expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) layer, a self-supporting substrate applied to a first side of the expanded PTFE layer, and a fabric substrate applied to a second side of the expanded PTFE layer. The expanded polytetrafluoroethylene layer can have a pore size having an average value from 0.1 micron to 0.5 micron. The self-supporting substrate can define a contour of the earpiece.

The composites includes a core layer comprising a thermoplastic polymer and having a first and a second sides opposite to each other; a first set of two layers disposed over at least a portion of the core layer respectively on the first and the second sides, each layer of the first set including carbon fibers aligned in a first direction in a plane; and a second set of two layers disposed over at least a portion of the first set of two layers respectively on the first and the second sides, each layer of the second set including carbon fibers aligned in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction in the plane In the plane, the composite has a length and a width, the length larger than the width and parallel to the second direction.
