Abstract:
A method of controlling a motor vehicle is disclosed. The method can be used to determine an ambient pressure value without the use of an ambient pressure sensor. The ambient pressure value can be used for controlling a set of fuel injectors. The method can include provisions for adjusting the ambient pressure value to correct for errors introduced by engine wear and other factors.
Abstract:
A method and a system for manually controlling a turbocharger is disclosed. The method includes steps for selecting a minimum boost pressure and a maximum boost pressure. The method also includes steps for selecting a pre-configured boost mode, including a predefined boost pressure minimum and a predefined boost pressure maximum.
Abstract:
A control system for a variable pitch radiator fan is disclosed. The control system is capable of varying the blade pitch of the radiator fan from a normal position to a full reverse position. The control system can change the blade pitch based on a number of factors, including vehicle speed. In systems with a plurality of fans, the control system is also capable of independently controlling the blade pitch of each of the fans. In systems with multiple fans, the control system can produce a circulation mode.
Abstract:
An apparatus for transferring cargo between first and second bodies which are movable relative to each other where a hoist for raising and lowering cargo through a hoist line is mounted on one of the bodies includes a linkage for connecting the two bodies. The linkage is pivotally connected to the bodies for accommodating relative movement between the bodies. A guide is located between the hoist line and one of the bodies for engaging and guiding the hoist line. A trolley which is movable along at least a portion of the linkage engages the hoist line on the side opposite the guide and moves the hoist line along the linkage between the guide and the other body while the line changes length so that cargo connected to the hoist line can be moved along the linkage. The linkage includes a plurality of arms in addition to hydraulic cylinders useful for compensating motion between an articulated connection and a second body.

Abstract:
An assembly for changing the pitch of fan blades rotatably attached to a hub includes a main drive shaft configured to rotate the hub. The main drive shaft is rotated by a first motor. A secondary drive shaft is coupled to the main drive shaft via a gearing system located within the hub. The secondary drive shaft is also driven by a second motor. When driven by the second motor, the secondary drive shaft manipulates the gearing system to alter the pitch of the fan blades.
Abstract:
A method and a system for correcting combustion in an engine to control for the effect of crankcase gases in the intake system are disclosed. The system includes one or more sensors in the crankcase ventilation system. An air to fuel ratio sensor may be disposed within a breather line and/or a PCV line of the crankcase ventilation system to monitor crankcase gases.

Abstract:
A method of controlling a fuel injector is disclosed. Multiple airflow rate regimes are associated with different fuel injection control methods. In one example, a low airflow rate regime is associated with a speed density control method and a high airflow rate regime is associated with an airflow meter control method.
Abstract:
A switch actuation mechanism is provided with a support structure that is shaped to hold two switches. Each switch is associated with a pivotable member that is rotatably attached to the support structure. The pivotable member can be moved into either a rest position or an actuating position. When in the rest position, an actuating surface of the pivotable member is placed in contact with a plunger of the associated switch. A resilient member, such as a spring, is used to urge the pivotable members into their rest positions. If an actuator, such as a plunger or latch, is move into contact with a protrusion extending from the pivotable member, the pivotable member is rotated clockwise and the actuating surface is moved out of contact with the plunger. This deactuates the switch. The two switches are arranged to provide a sequential deactuation as two actuators are moved into contact with their respective protrusions extending from the pivotable members.
