Abstract: A circuit and method for improving EMI noise performance in a bridgeless PFC boost converter. Such a converter comprises a boost inductor having a first end connected to a first AC input terminal and a second end connected to a first junction defined between the anode of a first diode and a first terminal of a first switch; a second terminal of the first switch connected to a common line; a parallel circuit of a capacitance and a load connected between the cathode of the first diode and the common line; a series circuit of a second diode and a second switch connected between the cathode of the first diode and the common line; and a second AC input terminal connected to a second junction defined between the anode of the second diode and the second switch. High-frequency EMI noise is bypassed by placing a first filter capacitor between the first AC terminal and the common line. A second boost inductor may be connected between the second AC input terminal and the second junction, and a second filter capacitor may be connected between the second AC terminal and the common line. The first and/or second filter capacitor has a lower impedance in a high frequency range than the corresponding first or second boost inductor. Preferably the first and second capacitors have substantially the same capacitance.

Abstract: A dual-gate normally-off nitride transistor that includes a first gate structure formed between a source electrode and a drain electrode for controlling a normally-off channel region of the dual-gate normally-off nitride transistor. A second gate structure is formed between the first gate structure and the drain electrode for modulating a normally-on channel region underneath the second gate structure. The magnitude of the threshold voltage of the second gate structure is smaller than the drain breakdown of the first gate structure for proper operation of the dual-gate normally-off nitride transistor.

Abstract: In a user interface apparatus, when a selected position of a to-be-processed image displayed on a display screen is detected through an area detecting unit, a menu display unit displays, in response to the detection of the selected position on the to-be-processed image, a link to at least one setting item being displayed in response to the selected position, the at least one setting item corresponding to a setting available for a setting area which corresponds to the selected position, where an order of display priority of the at least one setting item is determined by a size of the setting area. A determining unit determines that the setting item is specified, and an accepting unit accepts the setting corresponding to the setting item for the to-be-processed image. A preview display unit displays a preview indicating a result of processing the to-be-processed image based on the setting item.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a plurality of bilayer structures positioned adjacent to each other, each of the bilayer structures including a first layer of magnetic material having a first Curie temperature and a second layer of magnetic material positioned adjacent to the first layer, wherein the second layer has a second Curie temperature that is lower than the first Curie temperature, and magnetic grains of the first layer are unstable when the second layer of magnetic material is heated above the second Curie temperature. The recording temperature is reduced due to the smaller switching volume achieved by using vertically decoupled laminations at elevated temperatures.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling an AC motor drive includes a control system programmed with an energy algorithm configured to optimize operation of the motor drive. Specifically, the control system input an initial voltage-frequency command to the AC motor drive based on an initial voltage/frequency (V/Hz) curve, receives a real-time output of the AC motor drive generated according to the initial voltage-frequency command, and feedback a plurality of modified voltage-frequency commands to the AC motor drive, each of the plurality of modified voltage-frequency commands comprising a deviation from the initial V/Hz curve. The control system also determines a real-time value of the motor parameter corresponding to each of the plurality of modified voltage-frequency commands, and feeds back a modified voltage-frequency command to the AC motor drive so that the real-time value of the motor parameter is within a motor parameter tolerance range.

Abstract: Aspects include recording media with enhanced areal density through reduction of head media spacing, head keeper spacing, or head to soft underlayer spacing. Such aspects comprise replacing currently non-magnetic components of devices, such as interlayers and overcoats with components and compositions comprising magnetic materials. Other aspects relate to magnetic seed layers deposited within a recording medium. Preferably, these aspects, embodied as methods, systems and/or components thereof reduce effective magnetic spacing without sacrificing physical spacing.
