An example embodiment includes measuring by a user equipment, at least a signal quality and angle-of-arrival of wireless signals received from a network node; determining, by the user equipment, that the received wireless signals include signals from both primary path wireless beams and/or received reflected path wireless beams, based on the signal quality and the angle of arrival of the wireless signals; ranking, by the user equipment, the received wireless signals to primary path wireless beams and/or received reflected path wireless beams, based on the signal quality; and transmitting, by the user equipment, to the network node, at least one report including indications of both the received primary wireless beams having the best overall signal quality among both the primary and reflected beams, and received reflected path wireless beams having the best signal quality among the received reflected path wireless beams.

The method may also include monitoring a control channel for downlink communication. The monitoring comprises monitoring for discontinuous reception. The monitoring is triggered by the transmitting of the uplink communication.

Various methods are provided for triggering a power headroom report. One example method may include storing a first pathloss value and a second pathloss value for a first entity and a first pathloss value and a second pathloss value for a second entity, for each of the first entity and second entity, determining whether first pathloss value or second pathloss value has changed more than a corresponding threshold value, determining whether the UE has UL resources for a new transmission, and in an instance where, for at least one of the first entity or second entity, the first pathloss value or second pathloss value has changed (e.g., increased or decreased) more than the corresponding threshold value, triggering a PHR. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also provided.

A system comprising: a plurality of base stations forming a multicast broadcast single frequency network operating using unlicensed frequency resources; and a network element configured to allocate a transmission period to each of the plurality of base stations, wherein each base station is configured to independently determine whether the unlicensed frequency resources are available for transmission, and transmit a data packet using the unlicensed frequency resources during the allocated transmission period only if the unlicensed frequency resources are determined to be available.

Various apparatae, methods and code are described for, in response to determining a user equipment's measurements being too infrequent on a carrier part of the user equipment's master cell group, assigning the carrier to the user equipments secondary cell group and receiving corresponding measurement reports.

Various communication systems may benefit from relaxed performance requirements. For example, long term evolution (LTE), and in particular heterogeneous networks (HetNet) as well as small cell detection and discovery in small cell deployments in general, may benefit from relaxed performance requirements for offloading measurements. A method can include determining whether a user equipment is in active data transfer. The method can also include using a relaxed performance requirement with respect to a plurality of gap bursts when the user equipment is determined not to be in active data transfer.

One method includes receiving, by a target base station, a request to begin transmitting reference signals for mobility measurements. A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to receive, at a user equipment, an indication providing a cell location to which the user equipment, operating in a dual connectivity mode, should transmit a buffer status report for one or more bearers, the cell location being one of a first location, a second location, or a first location and second location and in response to being triggered, causing buffer status report to be transmitted to the location provided in the indication. In some embodiments, the bearer may be a split bearer. In some embodiments, the indication may be provided by RRC signaling, MAC signaling or physical layer signaling.
