Abstract:
Embodiments include methods implemented by a processor of a mobile communication device for managing tune-aways by a radio frequency resource supporting a first subscription to support a second subscription. The processor may determine a data loss ratio of the data of a media file that is lost in transmission to the mobile communication device. The processor may compare the data loss ratio of the data to a first data loss ratio threshold and a second data loss ratio threshold, and the processor may block a tune-away event of the radio frequency resource from the first subscription to the second subscription in response to determining that the data loss ratio of the data is greater than the first data loss ratio threshold and less than the second data loss ratio threshold.
Abstract:
Various embodiments include multi-subscription multi-standby (MSMS) communication devices and methods for managing a tune-away by a radio frequency (RF) resource supporting a first subscription to support a second subscription. A device processor may monitor a data loss during a first burst of a segment of a broadcast data stream received using the first subscription by the MSMS communication device. The device processor may calculate a permitted data loss of the segment of a broadcast data stream. The device processor may reserve one or more subframes in a second burst of the segment based on the permitted data loss, and the device processor may prevent a tune-away of the RF resource from the first subscription to the second subscription during the reserved one or more subframes of the second burst.
Abstract:
Dynamic forward error correction (FEC) setting is discussed in which the network determines a FEC percentage for each video segment of a video streaming service, based on consideration of the transfer length of the video segment and the allocated bandwidth. When the transfer length and allocated bandwidth reflect transmission of less than peak bandwidth, the network will determine a higher FEC percentage that uses the otherwise wasted bandwidth to transmit additional redundancy symbols. The additional redundancy symbols increase the error recovery rate when collisions occur between streaming video reception and page monitoring occasions of other networks in multi-network, multi-subscriber identification module (SIM) mobile devices. A network entity may then transmit the dynamic FEC percentage for each video segment in the file description table (FDT) associated with the video streaming service.
Abstract:
Aspects disclosed herein relate to utilizing and/or mitigating superfluous resource grants in a wireless network. In one aspect, an uplink resource grant is received from a network node, and a plurality of protocol data units are mapped from a buffer over the uplink resource grant in generating a transport block for transmitting data. It is determined that additional resources remain on the uplink resource grant after mapping the protocol data units, and one or more additional protocol data units are mapped for opportunistically transmitting data from a best effort buffer over the additional resources. In another aspect, a maximum grant size for a user equipment (UE) is computed based at least in part on a modulation and coding scheme and a number of resource blocks configured for the UE, and used along with a priority of a bearer to determine whether to send a buffer status report for the bearer.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are provided for quick recovery of missed packets after a user equipment (UE) tunes back to a first network after tuning away from the first network. The UE may determine that a trigger event has occurred, and in response to the determination, modify a negative acknowledgement (NACK) timing configuration from a default configuration. Modifying the NACK timing configuration may include using an aggressive NACK timing configuration for a configurable period of time, in response to detecting a trigger event. The trigger event may include detecting missed packets after a tune back, unavailability of sufficient memory to hold packets until a gap created by missed packets may be filled, or tuning back to a network.
Abstract:
In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be a UE. The UE determines a failure to receive an MSI for a first MSP. The UE attempts to decode one or more subframes in the first MSP. The UE detects an occurrence of an MSP abort decoding event. The UE determines that the first MSP does not include any subframe that carries MBMS data of an MBMS segment based on the detection of the MSP abort decoding events. The UE aborts the attempt to decode the one or more subframes.
Abstract:
Embodiments include systems and methods for managing access to receive chains of a multi-subscription multi-standby (MSMS) communication device. A device processor may determining a receive mode of the MSMS communication device. In response to determining that the receive mode is a diversity sharing mode, the device processor may monitor a data loss from the broadcast data stream, and may determine a first subscription schedule and a second subscription schedule. The device processor may determine that the data loss is greater than or equal to a threshold, and the device processor may determine that there is an upcoming overlap between the first subscription schedule and the second subscription schedule. The device processor may prevent the second subscription from using the second receive chain.
Abstract:
Embodiments include methods to manage tune-away events on a multi-subscription multi-standby wireless communication device having an RF resource supporting a first subscription and a second subscription by changing an order of Multicast Traffic Channel (MTCH) transmissions across a number of Multicast Channel Scheduling Periods (MSPs). In various embodiments, the order of MTCH transmissions may be changed by rotating the Logical Channel Identifier (LCID) order in a Multicast Channel (MCH) Scheduling Information (MSI) Media Access Control (MAC) message sent from a serving base station or tower (e.g., a serving Evolved Node B (eNB)) to a multi-subscription multi-standby wireless communication device. In various embodiments, a multi-subscription, multi-standby wireless communication device may activate a MTCH for one or more service according to the dynamic MSI MAC message.

Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques and apparatus for quick radio link control (RLC) retransmission on hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) failure during tune away. According to certain aspects, a method for wireless communications is provided. The method generally includes performing communications with a base station (BS) using radio components tuned to a first air interface, detecting a tune-away of the radio components from the first air interface to a second air interface while performing the communications, and scheduling one or more packets for retransmission to the BS upon completion of the tune-away, wherein the one or more packets are one or more packets that failed to be transmitted due to the tune-away.
