    摘要: A fuel filtration system includes an electric pump, a filter assembly, and conduits for fluidly connecting the pump and filter assembly in series with a fuel tank to define a kidney filtration loop. The filter assembly includes a filter assembly head, including attachment openings therethrough, and a filter exchange module, including a mounting plate having externally threaded mounting connectors extending outwardly from one face thereof and internally threaded bores opening through another face thereof. In a mounted configuration, a fuel filter is threaded onto each mounting connector such that the filter is fluidly aligned with a fuel flow opening through the mounting plate, fasteners are positioned through the attachment openings and threadably received within the bores, and fuel flow passages of the filter assembly head define a flow distribution in which one pair of filters is fluidly in parallel and another pair of filters is fluidly in series.

    摘要: The present invention relates to high speed control valves which are especially applicable for use in fuel injection systems. Producing a valve with a quick response time within acceptable packaging constraints and with a structure that allows the valve to be mass produced with consistent performance between valves is extremely problematic. By moving flow restrictions within the valve away from the valve seats, flow forces on the valve member can be reduced, while possibly also permitting a reduction in the necessary travel distance of the valve member to improve response time and other performance characteristics. The valve is particularly applicable in controlling hydraulic pressure applied to the closing hydraulic surface of a direct control needle valve in a fuel injector.

    摘要: A common rail fuel injection system addresses three basic issues involving all common rail fuel injection systems. These include high performance, low variability and high efficiency. These issues are addressed by combining pressure intensification with a three way needle control valve, which exhibits substantial leakage only durring a brief instant when the valve is moving between seats. A quick acting needle control valve tightly coupled to a responsive direct control needle valve, as modified by relative timing with a flow control valve, can produce a wide variety of fuel injection rate shapes, including up to five or more discrete injections per engine cycle.

    摘要: In some hydraulically actuated fuel injectors, a pressure communication passage extends from a pilot valve to the underside of a spool valve to control movement of the same. For the spool valve to move, a substantial amount of fluid flow past the pilot valve is required due to the relatively large amount of fluid that must be displaced by movement of the spool valve member. However, during cold start, when the oil in the pressure communication passage is relatively viscous, it is difficult to move enough fluid past the relatively small flow area through the pilot valve to allow the spool valve to advance to its upper position. Therefore, the fuel injector of the present invention includes a pressure communication passage that is connected to the underside of the spool valve to be separated from the branch that passes through the pilot valve.
