摘要: An internal combustion engine includes a fuel injection system including a fuel injector disposed to inject fuel into the combustion chamber, and a plasma ignition system including a groundless barrier discharge plasma igniter that protrudes into the combustion chamber. A controller includes an executable instruction set to control the engine in a compression-ignition mode when the output torque request indicates a low load condition, including instructions to control a variable valve actuation system and control the plasma ignition system to execute plasma discharge events subsequent to controlling the fuel injection system to execute a fuel injection event, wherein the fuel injection event achieves a cylinder charge having a lean air/fuel ratio.

摘要: A dual fumigation homogeneous charge compression ignition (DF-HCCI) engine runs on low volatility internal combustion (IC) engine fuel such as diesel in combination with another IC engine fuel, both simultaneously fumigated in engine intake air stream. Both fumigated fuels mix with engine intake air and they are inducted together, at the same time, into engine combustion chamber where homogeneous charge compression ignition combustion takes place. Fumigation of two fuels, in which one fuel has low volatility, is done by a novel dual fuel fumigation system comprising of at least one ultrasonic atomizer. Combustion phasing control is done by varying proportions of fumigated fuels, EGR rate, and EGR temperature and additionally by controlling engine intake air temperature. Engine intake air is controlled to a desirable temperature by heat exchanger utilizing heat from engine and/or exhaust gas. A controller monitors inputs from relevant sensors and, based on these inputs, adjusts fumigation rates of fuels, EGR rates, EGR temperature and engine intake air temperature.

摘要: A controller injects fuel into a cylinder at a high fuel pressure of 30 MPa or higher, at least in a period between a terminal stage of a compression stroke and an initial stage of an expansion stroke when an operating mode of an engine body is at least in a first specified sub-range of a low load range, and at least in a second specified sub-range of a high load range. The controller sets an EGR ratio in the first specified sub-range to be higher than an EGR ratio in the second specified sub-range, and advances start of fuel injection in the first specified sub-range to start of fuel injection in the second specified sub-range.

摘要: A control device for a compression ignition engine includes a controller configured to operate an engine body by compression ignition combustion when the engine body operates in a compression ignition range. When the engine body operates in a low load range with a load lower than a predetermined load in the compression ignition range, the controller sets a time of fuel injection with the fuel injection valve in a first half of a compression stroke or earlier, and allows the ozonator to introduce the ozone into the cylinder. When the engine body operates in the low load range, the controller controls an ozone concentration to be lower at a higher speed than at a low speed.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for an auto-ignition internal combustion engine comprising an exhaust gas recirculation arrangement, an intake system, and an exhaust gas discharge system for the discharge of exhaust gases, in which the internal combustion engine is operable, at least in a first, stoichiometric operating mode, by way of a spatial ignition method (HCCI mode). For the aftertreatment of the exhaust gas in the first operating mode, a three-way catalytic converter is provided in the exhaust gas discharge system for reducing nitrogen oxides and oxidizing unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide. In this way, the auto-ignition internal combustion engine has a greater window of operation in the HCCI mode than conventional auto-ignition internal combustion engines.

摘要: A control device for a compression ignition engine includes a controller configured to operate an engine body by compression ignition combustion when the engine body operates in a predetermined compression ignition range. When the engine body operates in a predetermined high load range of the compression ignition range, the controller maximizes a filling amount of the cylinder using a gas state adjustment system, and lowers an EGR ratio so that the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder is lean with an excess air ratio λ higher than 1 in a lower speed range, and maximizes the filling amount of the cylinder, and increases the EGR ratio so that the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder has the excess air ratio λ of 1 or lower in a higher speed range than the lower speed range.

摘要: A control apparatus of a premixed charge compression ignition engine that includes an engine body having a cylinder and causes a mixture gas containing fuel and air to self-ignite inside the cylinder is provided. The apparatus includes a fuel injector for injecting the fuel into the cylinder, a water injector for injecting supercritical water or subcritical water into the cylinder, and a controller. The controller includes an operating range determining module for receiving a parameter and determining whether an operating range of the engine body is within a water injection range. Within the water injection range, the controller controls the fuel and water injectors to inject the supercritical water or subcritical water between a latter half of compression stroke and an early half of expansion stroke, and to start this injection at a timing that is after the fuel injection and before ignition of the mixture gas.

摘要: A control device of a compression-ignition engine is provided. The control device includes the engine having a cylinder, an exhaust gas recirculation system for introducing exhaust gas into the cylinder, and a controller for operating the engine by compression-ignition combustion of mixture gas inside the cylinder within a predetermined compression-ignitable range on a low engine load side. Within the compression-ignitable range, the controller sets an EGR ratio higher as the engine load becomes lower, and the controller sets the EGR ratio to a predetermined highest EGR ratio when the engine load is at a specific load that is on the low engine load side within the compression-ignitable range. When the engine load is lower than the specific load, the controller sets the EGR ratio to be lower than the highest EGR ratio.
