摘要: Sheet bars are effectively joined while they are traveling and subjected to continuous hot rolling without causing defects in quality and without requiring large expensive apparatus such as a swing roller etc. The present invention is to provide a continuous hot rolling method and apparatus in which the tail of a preceding sheet bar is butted to the top of a succeeding sheet bar between the rough and finishing mills on a continuous hot rolling line, and the butted portion is welded from the upper surface of the sheet bars by means of laser beam or plasma arc while the sheet bars are traveling. According to the present invention, it is possible to join sheet bars from the upper surface in a short period of time without stopping the sheet bars and without causing splashes and burrs, before the sheet bars are subjected to continuous finish rolling. Since the welded apparatus does not interfere with the sheet bar conveyance table, hot strips of high quality can be effectively manufactured by the economical apparatus.

摘要: A core strip for a honeycomb core panel is composed of a metal strip shaped into a corrugated configuration and having continuous alternate convex and concave portions of identical shape, each of the convex portions being defined by a plateau portion and a pair of inclined portions, and each of the concave portions being defined by a bottom portion and the pair of inclined portions. The inclined portions interconnect the plateau portion and the bottom portion. At the one side edge of the shaped metal strip, the plateau portion and the inclined portions have respective first flanges disposed perpendicular to the metal strip and directed away from a convex surface of the convex portion. At the other side edge of the shaped metal strip, the bottom portion and the inclined portion have respective second flanges disposed perpendicularly to the metal strip and directed away from a convex surface of the concave portion. With this construction of the core strip, the core strips can be welded together with high uniformity and high weldability, and the thickness of the core strip can be greater than that of a conventional one. In the formation of a honeycomb core panel, such core strips can facilitate the bonding between a core and face sheets, and also enable a stable bonding.

摘要: This invention relates to a method producing a common rail excellent in fatigue strength from an inexpensive steel which uses as the material of the common rail a steel for high-strength liquid phase diffusion bonding having good toughness and fatigue strength, which steel contains, in mass %, C: 0.01 to 0.3%, Si: 0.01 to 0.5%, Mn: 0.01 to 3.0%, Cr: 1.0 to 12.0% and Mo: 0.1 to 2.0%, further contains, in mass %, V: 0.01 to 1.0%, B: 0.0003 to 0.01%, Ti: 0.01 to 0.05% and N: 0.001 to 0.01%, has P content limited to 0.03% or less, S content to 0.01% or less and O content to 0.01% or less, further has total content of grain boundary segregated embrittling elements As, Sn, Sb, Pb and Zn limited to 0.015% or less, and a balance of unavoidable impurities and Fe. The steel is used for liquid phase diffusion bonding. The production method uses a pulsed laser beam to perform laser-peening in the presence of a transparent liquid with respect to the vicinity of the boundary between the inner surface 21 of each branch hole 6 and the inner surface 22 of the rail hole 5, located at an opening peripheral zone of the branch hole 6. The surface layer of steel of the opening peripheral zone is thereafter removed.
