摘要: An aqueous composition comprising: A) a crosslinkable vinyl graft copolymer comprising 30 to 85 wt % of a polymeric backbone; and 70 to 15 wt % of at least one macromonomer grafted to the polymeric backbone, where the Tg of the macromonomer is in the range of from 15 to 140° C.; where the Tg of the polymeric backbone is ≦40° C.; where the vinyl graft copolymer comprises 0.6 to 10 wt % of at least one carbonyl functional vinyl monomer; where the polymeric backbone contains ≧75% of the carbonyl functional vinyl monomers in the vinyl graft copolymer; and B) a hydrazide functional compound; where the ratio of hydrazide functional groups to carbonyl functional groups in the vinyl graft copolymer is in the range of from 0.1 to 1.5; and where the composition comprises ≦50 wt % of organic co-solvent by weight of the vinyl graft copolymer.

摘要: An aqueous emulsion comprising at least a covalently bound vinyl oligomer and vinyl polymer, wherein said vinyl oligomer comprises 5 to 85 mol % of vinyl monomers bearing quaternary ammonium ion functional groups or quaternisable amine functional groups and is obtained by a controlled radical polymerisation of at least one vinyl monomer via a reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer mechanism in solution in the presence of a control agent and a source of free radicals; wherein said vinyl polymer is obtained by emulsion polymerisation of vinyl monomers in the presence of the vinyl oligomer; wherein the weight % ratio of vinyl oligomer to vinyl polymer is in the range of from 0.5:99.5 to 65:35.

摘要: An aqueous crosslinkable coating composition suitable for the provision of thick coatings without incurring carbon dioxide bubble formation comprising: (A) an aqueous dispersion of at least one hydroxyl- and acid-functional vinyl polymer having a hydroxyl value of 8 to 250 mg KOH/g of polymer and an acid value of 2 to 55 mg KOH/g of polymer, where the contribution of at least 30% of the acid value results from a monocarboxylic acid(s) of formula: CH2—CR1—Q—CO2H (1) where R1 is H or lower alkyl of 1 to 5 carbon atoms and Q is a spacer group of formula: [—C(═O)—X—(CH2)m—]k (2) where X is —O— or —NH—, m is at least 1, preferably 2 or 3, and k is at least 1, preferably 2, 3, 4 or 5; and (B) at least one organic polyisocyanate. The acid of formula (1) preferably comprises &bgr;-carboxyethyl acrylate.

摘要: The invention relates to an aqueous emulsion comprising at least a vinyl polymer, said vinyl polymer comprising: a) 45 to 99 wt % of itaconate ester monomers having formula (I), wherein R and R′ are independently an alkyl or an aryl group; b) 0.1 to 15 wt % of ionic or potentially ionic unsaturated monomers; c) 0 to 54 wt % of unsaturated monomers, different from a) and b); and 0.9 to 54.9 wt % by weight of total monomers of a chaser monomer composition added subsequently and polymerised after the polymerisation of monomers a), b) and c); wherein a)+b)+c) and the chaser monomer composition add up to 100%; and wherein the aqueous emulsion contains less than 0.5 wt % free itaconate ester monomers of formula I based on the total weight of the aqueous emulsion.
