Abstract:
An artificial neural network is trained to recognize inputted thermal and physical features of a printed circuit board, for providing settings for a reflow oven for obtaining acceptable soldering of the printed circuit board.
Abstract:
An automatic apparatus for soldering jump rings conventionally used in chain jewelry. The apparatus includes a fixture in which at least one and preferably a plurality of laterally oriented grooves are disposed in the upper face of a heat resistant fixture which in turn is adapted to move longitudinally with respect to a frame which supports the fixture. In addition to the laterally oriented grooves, at least one and preferably a pair of longitudinally oriented grooves are disposed in the face of the fixture in intersecting relation to said lateral grooves. Heating means including means for directing a pinpoint flame jet to each of the longitudinal grooves is fixedly positioned on the frame such that when the jewelry chain is placed in the laterally extending grooves with the jump ring or rings disposed in the area of intersection between the longitudinal and the lateral grooves, relative movement of the fixture with respect to the frame causes the jump rings to be moved progressively past such pinpoint flame jets so as to heat the same and accordingly accomplish the desired soldering action.
Abstract:
A process for preventing the spread of heat to areas adjacent a portion of a member being subjected to heat, as by gas torch, electric arc or the like. The process includes the application of a paste comprising a water swollen bentonite clay to areas adjacent the zone to be heated, and/or the application of a paste as a temporary protective covering for adjacent objects to be protected from radiation or direct flame contact. The water swollen bentonite acts as a water curtain to absorb the heat. When it is applied adjacent the heated zone of a member, it prevents conduction of heat to other portions of the member which might otherwise be subject to distortion and/or other damage. When applied as a temporary protective covering to adjacent objects, it prevents the covered objects from reaching ignition temperature or otherwise being damaged due to flames or radiation impinging thereagainst.

Abstract:
A welding machine for welding opposed ends of a forming blank using a micro plasma welding device. The blank formed into a ring and the ends of the ring are clamped in an opposed manner and welded. The next blank to be formed is clamped prior to completion of ejection of the preceding welded ring.
Abstract:
A method for the consecutive resistance heating of sequentially advanced wire pins by means of electrodes positioned on end faces of the pins includes the following steps:A. connecting in series at least two wire pins to a current source through the electrodes;B. passing heating current through each wire pin for a number of consecutive heating periods which equal the number of the serially-connected wire pins; andC. between each heating period removing that wire pin which has been exposed to all consecutive heating periods and, in its stead, introducing a new wire pin.
