摘要: This disclosure relates to nanoparticles comprising a core comprising a poly(ester amide) polymer comprising a repeating unit of Formula (Ia): and a repeating unit of Formula (Ib): wherein W1, W2, X1, A1, X2, A2, and X3 are as described herein, a payload molecule within the core, and a surface layer comprising a targeting ligand that binds or reacts selectively with a receptor on the outside surface of a cell. Methods of making such nanoparticles, and methods of using such nanoparticles as drug delivery vehicles, are also provided.

摘要: Cationic polymers are provided for delivering anionic active agents, preferably in the form or nanoparticles and other nanostructures. The polymer can be a polycation homopolymer or a copolymer containing a polycation block. The polycations and polycation containing polymers can contain dicarboxylic acid ester units and units of (α-amino acid)-α,ω-alkylene diester units. The nanoparticles can contain high loadings of anionic active agents, with sustained release of the active agents. Methods of making the polycations and polycation containing polymers are provided. Methods of making the nanoparticles and formulating them for administration to an individual in need thereof are also provided.

摘要: An apparatus including a tendon-driven device such as an endoscope comprising a bendable body, a tendon attached to and extending a length of said body, and an actuator that will actuate said tendon based on a control signal from a controller. The controller is configured to send said control signal to said actuator and comprises a forward-kinematic-mapping unit that estimates an angular displacement, wherein the kinematic-mapping unit is configured for: providing a tension value of the tendon to obtain a desired angular displacement wherein the tension has a nonlinear relationship with the desired angular displacement based on information of friction where the tension is greater that would be calculated without including the effect of friction. The friction coefficient may be determined as it changes over time.

摘要: A population of enteroendocrine cells (EEC) is obtained from a mammalian post-natal cell population, such as a population including post-natal stem cells, by treating the population with a plurality of small molecules that upregulate ChgA and promote differentiation of the cells to form the enteroendocrine cells. The upregulation of ChgA is such that the fraction of cells expressing CGA in the obtained cell population, as measured by a ChgA Immunostaining Assay, is at least about 1.5%. Small molecules that can be used to differentiate the post-natal cells into the enteroendocrine cells can include at least one of a Wnt activator, a Notch inhibitor, a Wnt inhibitor, a MEK/ERK inhibitor, a growth factor, a HDAC inhibitor, a Histone Methylation Inhibitor, a Tgf-β inhibitor, and a NeuroD1 activator. Also, the insulin expression of a population of mammalian cells is increased by treating the population with a plurality of small molecules that increase the insulin expression.

摘要: Self-assembled gels and methods of making thereof are described. A selective range of ratios between an organic solvent and optionally water, or an aqueous solution, allows for combinations of gelators (such as GRAS amphiphiles or prodrug-based gelators), co-gelators (such as anti-retrovirals), and solvents to form self-supporting hydrogels or organogels. The resulting gels may be used in methods of treating HIV and/or hepatitis.
