An apparatus is provided for removing tablets from a blister pack including formations for receiving the tablets and a rupturable foil member which seals the formations. The foil member is rupturable to allow removal of the tablets from the blister pack. The de-blistering apparatus works essentially by using an adhesive coated tape to mount and draw the blister pack through a depressing station and a foil removal station. In the depressing station, the foil which seals the tablet within the formations is ruptured and in the foil removal station the ruptured foil is removed from the blister pack to free the tablet.

A method and apparatus that increases safety when employing externally focused adaptive phased array microwave thermotherapy (hyperthermia) for breast cancer treatment include microwave absorbing pads and metallic shielding to prevent undesired or stray surface tissue heating and to cushion the breast from mechanical pressure during breast compression. The microwave absorbing pads are attached on the top of the microwave waveguide thermotherapy applicators and on top of the breast compression paddles. A metallic-shielding strip mounted across the top portion of the microwave applicator aperture acts to block microwave radiation from illuminating the base of the breast and chest wall area. The patient treatment table utilizes a metallic shield to shield the body from stray microwave radiation. Combined E-field and temperature sensors within a single catheter are used to require only a single minimally invasive skin entry point for E-field focusing and measurement of the tumor temperature. Breast compression is maintained for a period of time following microwave-induced heating to accumulate additional equivalent thermal dose. Treatments incorporating the safety improvements include thermotherapy for early-stage breast carcinomas, locally advanced breast cancer, ductal carcinoma in-situ, and benign breast lesions.

A piston-cylinder unit for a hydropneumatic suspension system of a vehicle having a fluid-filled cylinder in which a piston having damping valves and connected to a piston rod is axially movable. The piston rod runs axially in a piston rod guide at the piston-rod exit of the cylinder and is sealed toward the outside by means of a piston rod seal. A spring surrounding the piston rod is in mounted between a first support part attached to the cylinder and a second support part attached to either the piston rod or a vehicle-fixed part. The spring, which interacts with an axially adjustable support part, can be lifted off one of the support parts. During compression of the piston-cylinder unit, the first and second support parts begin compression of the spring at the functional point of the compression. The functional point is adjustable in a predetermined position range by an adjustment device.

A method for manufacturing a piston, wherein the piston includes a piston body with through-channels for fluid which are covered by valve disks on supporting bodies with valve support surfaces. The piston body is constructed in one piece in a disk-shaped manner by press stamping. Starting from a base body of the piston, the raised areas of the piston body on one side of the piston are formed as depressions on the axially opposite side. The piston has at least one support for the valve disks whose axial height is adapted to the height of the support surfaces. The support on both sides of the piston is stamped from the base body of the piston and the valve support surfaces and the support are machined in the same manufacturing step on a common plane.
