Abstract:
An opening roof for a vehicle having an opening in the fixed roof, comprises a frame to be mounted around the opening, a flexible cover for selectively closing or exposing the opening, a control beam attached to the front side of the cover and being guided with its lateral ends in guide rails extending along each side of the opening in longitudinal direction of the vehicle, and latch means for holding the control beam in a forward position when the opening roof is closed. Said latch means includes at least a latch member which is operative between the control beam and the frame. An electric motor is coupled to the control beam through drive cables in order to slide it for opening and closing the opening roof. A transmission mechanism between the latch member and the drive cables ensures to tighten the control beam into the forward position with a greater driving force during its last closing movement.
Abstract:
A system, apparatus and method are provided for controlling secondary treatment of multiple leg telecommunication sessions, such as for providing secondary treatment of outgoing call legs for a flexible alerting service, by an originating switch rather than a distant or terminating switch. The preferred system includes a home location register coupled to a mobile switching center. The home location register has, stored in a memory, a plurality of secondary directory numbers associated with a primary directory number, such as an ANSI compatible pilot directory number, and for each secondary directory number of the plurality of secondary directory numbers, further stored in the memory a corresponding originating no answer time parameter. The mobile switching center has an interface for receiving an incoming call leg designating the primary directory number and for differentially processing and routing each outgoing call leg associated with each secondary directory number, and the mobile switching center further providing secondary treatment of each outgoing call leg in accordance with its corresponding originating no answer time parameter. In the preferred embodiment, each corresponding originating no answer time parameter, for each outgoing call leg, is less than a corresponding terminating no answer time parameter which may be utilized by a terminating switch or end office.
Abstract:
A system for implementing accurate V/Hz value measurement and trip time determination for generator/transformer overexcitation protection independent of the conventional frequency tracking and phasor estimation based on Discrete Fourier Transformation (DFT) techniques. The half-cycle summation technique of the invention is a non-recursive digital technique which measures the per unit V/Hz value by summing the sampled data points in every half cycle of a sinusoidal input signal and dividing the sum with the ideal base sum value. When the input voltage signal is sampled at a reasonable frequency, the technique of the invention approximates the accurate per unit V/Hz value of the input voltage signal and thus obtains an accurate V/Hz characteristic directly without computing voltage and frequency separately.
Abstract:
An opening roof includes a drive motor for driving a connecting device between a front carrier and a frame for sliding the front carrier along guiderails in order to open and close the opening roof. A mounting assembly for the drive motor is so arranged that after the drive motor has moved the front carrier substantially into a forward position through the connecting device and, preferably, a latching device has come into engagement. The drive motor is allowed to move and to transmit its movement through a transmission mechanism to the cover in order to tension the cover.
Abstract:
A complementary field effect structure having a first field effect device (26) including a quantum well having a first channel (12). A first doping region (14) is positioned adjacent to a first quantum well and a first gate electrode (29) is positioned so that the first doping region (14) is between the first gate electrode (29) and the first channel (12) . A second field effect device (37) includes a second channel (22) and a second doping region (19) positioned adjacent to the second channel. A second gate electrode (31) is positioned over the second channel (22) so that the second channel (22) is between the second gate electrode (31) and the second doping region (19). An interconnect electrically couples the first gate electrode (29) to the second gate electrode (31).
Abstract:
A plurality of carrier signals, distinguishable by amplitudes of signal components (e.g., frequency components), are respectively applied to a plurality of energy emitters (e.g., infrared and red light emitters). A detector receives the sum of the energy after modulation at each emitter wavelength, e.g. by blood tissue of a patient. An output of the detector is then demultiplexed, whereby a component of modulation at each emitter wavelength may be determined. The carrier signals may comprise time-varying periodic signals with identical frequency and frequency components, such as mixtures of identical sets of pure sine waves. When the number of signal components exceeds the number of emitter wavelengths, sufficient information is provided during demultiplexing to detect and correct errors introduced by ambient light sources and other interference.
Abstract:
A closed pressurized spray container is provided. The container includes a nozzle assembly interconnected with the delivery passageway or conduit from the self contained closed pressurized container. The nozzle assembly has a first and second passageway, preferably conduits which are connected to a mechanical break up chamber which is connected to the delivery passageway or conduit of the pressurized container. The first and second passageways split and splits the fluid preferably a pan coating exiting from the mechanical break up chamber into two streams. Each conduit has a fluid outlet to the atmosphere. The first and second conduits in combination with said fluid outlets define a discharge axis. The first fluid conduit discharge axis intersects the second fluid discharge axis at an impingement angle .beta. of from 10.degree. to 170.degree. so that the pan coating exiting each outlet intersects at a point exterior to the nozzle. As a result the fluid exiting the first outlet collides with the pan coating exiting from the second outlet to break the pan coating into small droplets to form a wide angle mist for application to a surface.

Abstract:
The aim of the invention is to measure the partial pressure of very small amounts of free hydrogen gas at various sites in the core of a nuclear reactor. A further aim is to construct such a device to be so rugged as to survive in the reactor environment. Another aim is to construct such a device of materials which will not significantly affect reactivity.
