    摘要: An embedded processor system including at least one gated power unit including an internal ROM and a power controller that provides one or more gated power signals to selectively provide power to each gated power unit. The power controller provides a gated clock signal to the embedded processor to selectively control power consumption of the processor. The power controller powers down each gated power unit after freezing the processor and then powers up each gated power unit before reactivating the processor. The embedded processor system may include isolation circuitry, such as clamp circuitry or the like, that is operative to minimize current flow into each gated power unit when powered down. The gated power units may include a static function. The ROM of an embedded ROM-based microprocessor system is powered down when the microprocessor is idle to reduce or otherwise eliminate intrinsic leakage.

    摘要: A method for calibrating a phase locked loop (PLL) includes an open loop test and a closed loop test. The open loop test includes providing an optimal control input to a controlled oscillator (CO) of the PLL; determining rate of output oscillation of the CO based on the optimal control input; comparing the rate of the output oscillation with rate of an optimal output oscillation; and when the comparing the rate of the output oscillation with rate of the optimal output oscillation is unfavorable, adjusting an oscillation point of the CO until the comparing is favorable to produce an open-loop adjusted CO oscillation point. The close loop test includes determining a closed-loop input control level of the CO at the open-loop adjusted CO oscillation point; comparing the closed-loop input control level with the optimal control input; and when the comparing the closed-loop input control level with the optimal control input is not favorable, adjusting the open-loop adjusted CO oscillation point until the comparing is favorable.

    摘要: Methods for removing redundancies in a video stream based on efficient pre-transmission detection of static portions of the video stream. In one embodiment supporting wireless transmission of a video stream having a series of video frames, a mathematical operation (such as a hash function, summing operation or CRC) is performed on (1) a (reconstructed) data block(s) of a video frame in order to generate a first check value and (2) a co-located data block(s) of a second, sequential video frame in order to generate a second check value. The first and second check values are compared to detect static video content in the video stream. When static video content in a video stream is detected, the static nature of the content is indicated in the compressed bit stream and the amount of wirelessly transmitted data corresponding to the static portions of the video stream may be reduced.

The RF link interface outputs the selected voltage on to an RF link of the portable computing device for providing power to one or more multi mode RF units within the portable computing device.
