摘要: A method of attaching a flexible interconnection circuit assembly to an ink-jet pen cartridge. The cartridge includes a frame structure fabricated of a rigid plastic frame member formed of a first plastic material and a polymeric second material molded to the frame member. A headland region is defined at the tip of a snout region of the cartridge. An ink reservoir is connected through a standpipe defined by the rigid frame material with the headland region. The second plastic material coats the headland region, and portions of flap and tab sides of the snout regions. The interconnection circuit assembly includes a thermoplastic cover layer, a flexible tab circuit and a printhead die and orifice plate affixed to the tab circuit. The interconnection assembly is attached to the headland region after alignment by heatstaking the polymeric second plastic material covering cheek areas of the headland region and areas of the flap and tab sides of the snout region to corresponding areas of the cover layer of the assembly. This results in a strong chemical bond securing the flexible interconnection circuit to the cartridge.

摘要: A method is provided to eliminate ink trajectory errors when an inkjet printhead is fabricated as described below. In a preferred embodiment, a nozzle member containing an array of orifices is affixed to a barrier layer formed on a substrate, the substrate having heater elements formed thereon. The nozzle member is affixed to the barrier layer using heat and pressure. Each orifice in the nozzle member is associated with a single heating element formed on the substrate. The back surface of the nozzle member extends beyond the outer edges of the substrate. During the heating and pressure step used to affix the nozzle member to the barrier layer, the nozzle member undesirable bends over the outer edges of the barrier layer, causing the nozzles to be tilted outward. In one embodiment to prevent this bending from skewing the nozzles, the nozzles are initially formed at a slight inward angle to compensate for the subsequent bending of the nozzle member. In another embodiment, the barrier layer is formed with one or more trenches parallel to the long edges of the barrier layer to cause the nozzle member to dip and bend over the trenches. The nozzles are located at the crest of the nozzle member and, thus, remain normal to the surface of the printhead.

摘要: An identification medium is optimized for displaying visible and excitable indicia. The medium includes a substrate having a color change layer, such as a direct thermal layer, and a patterned excitable layer placed over the color change layer. The color change layer produces the visible indicia. The excitable layer produces the excitable indicia. The excitable indicia is not easily readable under ambient light but becomes more easily readable under directed radiation, i.e., UV or IR light.

摘要: A shaving implement includes a blade assembly configured for a wet shaving process wherein a user of the shaving implement grips a handle and draws the blade assembly across a surface of skin to be shaved. The shaving implement also includes an energy-imparting device, circuitry, and an activation device. The energy-imparting device is configured to impart energy to enhance the wet shaving process. The activation device is configured to impart a signal to the circuitry in response to handling of the having implement during the wet shaving process. In response to receiving the signal, the circuitry either extends or initiates an application of signals to the energy-imparting device that enable the energy-imparting device to impart energy that enhances the wet having process.

摘要: A method and apparatus for the optimized treatment of obstructive sleep apnea includes a controller coupled to an information storage device, a sensor and a pressure source. The pressure source is coupled to a patient airway. The controller reads information from the information storage device that represents a first operating mode defining a first pressure profile. The controller operates the pressure source to apply the pressure profile to the patient airway. The sensor generates a signal in response to changes in airflow in the patient airway. The controller analyzes the signal and selects a new operating mode in response to the analysis.

摘要: The present invention includes a method and apparatus for the optimized treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. The present invention includes a pressure source configured to provide positive airway pressure to a patient who is resting at home. The pressure source receives control signals from control electronics that define a pressure profile to be delivered to the patient. The control electronics select parameters to define the pressure profile based on factors such as a user selection, information received from a sensor, and/or a prescription.

摘要: Inhaler systems and method of use thereof are disclosed. One exemplary inhaler system, among others, includes an inhalation/exhalation structure including an inhalation/exhalation orifice. In addition, the inhaler system includes a medicament supply system having a medicament ejector disposed adjacent the inhalation/exhalation orifice. The medicament supply system controllably ejects medicament droplets from the medicament ejector. Further, the inhaler system includes a flow control system in fluidic communication with the medicament ejector. The flow control system is configured to entrain the medicament droplets and pass the medicament droplets to the inhalation/exhalation orifice when the patient applies an in-breath to the inhalation/exhalation structure. In addition, the flow control system is configured to impede a flow of air from the inhalation/exhalation orifice to the medicament ejector when the patient applies an out-breath into the inhalation/exhalation structure.
