摘要： A surgical instrument is disclosed which includes a housing having proximal and distal end portions, a shaft extending from the housing distal end portion, the shaft having proximal and distal end portions, a fastener carrying cartridge positioned at the shaft distal end portion, the cartridge having a plurality of fasteners disposed therein, a fastener firing member operatively associated with the fastener carrying cartridge, at least one lever extending from the housing, the lever being adapted to move the fastener firing member to expel the fasteners from the cartridge, an anvil member disposed opposite the cartridge, an elongated member operatively associated with the anvil member for moving the anvil member relative to the cartridge, and a locking element disposed within the housing for locking the elongated member, and, therefore the anvil member, the locking element being movable between at least a first position and a second position such that when the locking element is in the first position the elongated member is movable and when the locking element is in the second position the elongated member is prevented from moving.

摘要： A surgical device is described herein that can be used to fire different types and sizes of disposable loading units. In a preferred embodiment, the device applies parallel rows of surgical fasteners to body tissue and concomitantly forms an incision between the rows of staples during an endoscopic or laparoscopic surgical procedure. The device can be utilized with disposable loading units configured to apply linear rows of staples measuring from about 15 mm in length to about 60 mm in length and can be used to fire disposable loading units containing surgical clips and individual staples.

摘要： A surgical stapling or fastening instrument for applying surgical fasteners to tissue having an adjustable closure mechanism to linearly approximate the distance between the jaw members of the instrument. The adjustable closure mechanism consists of an advancing mechanism and a retaining mechanism, wherein the actuating mechanism is actuable to urge the jaw members towards each other. A coupling arrangement is also provided which permits firing of the staples or fasteners only when the jaw members are approximated a predetermined distance from each other.

摘要： A surgical instrument for performing a circular anastomosis is disclosed. The instrument is provided with sealing means to permit use during endoscopic procedures. The first seal is fabricated from polyethylene foam, is disposed about an elongate member and is in at least partial contact with an inner surface of a compression member. The second seal is an O-ring seal configured and dimensioned to at least partially contact an outer portion of the compression member and an inner portion of an outer tube. The second seal is disposed intermediate of the compression member.

摘要： Approximating apparatus for surgical jaw structure is provided which effects substantially parallel approximation of first and second surgical jaw structure to permit substantially parallel working interaction therebetween. The approximating apparatus includes camming structure for engaging at least one movable jaw of the surgical jaw structure to bias that jaw toward or away from a second jaw structure in a substantially parallel manner. A tissue stop may be provided to more easily guide and protect tissue captured by the jaw structure.

摘要： An electric motor driven portable air compressor consists of a reciprocating piston and cylinder arrangement with an intake throttling valve operative to unload the compressor above a predetermined pressure level. The throttling valve is a spring loaded plunger responsive to compressor output to close one of two inlet openings to reduce the charge of air in the cylinder. A stainless steel intake leaf spring is disposed between the cylinder and a two part die cast housing and is responsive to cylinder suction for control of the compressor.

摘要： An assembly for joining tissue is provided and includes an anvil assembly and a body portion juxtaposed with respect to one another along a shaft and arranged so as to be approximated with respect to one another; and an applicator supported on the anvil assembly and configured for retaining a wound treatment material therein and for dispensing the wound treatment material therefrom. A method for joining tissue is provided and includes the steps of dispensing the wound treatment material from the applicator so as to distribute wound treatment material onto at least one of a first tissue section and a second tissue section; and approximating the anvil assembly and the body portion to one another so that the first tissue section and the second tissue section are in contact with one another with the dispensed wound treatment material interposed therebetween.
