摘要: A surgical instrument comprising a handle system, an elongate shaft assembly, and an end effector extending from the elongate shaft assembly is disclosed. The elongate shaft assembly comprises a first drive member and a second drive member. The end effector comprises an elongate channel configured to support a staple cartridge therein, an anvil movably coupled to the elongate channel, and a cutting member. When the handle system is engaged with the first drive member, a first actuation of the handle system advances the cutting member a first distance. When the handle system is engaged with the second drive member, a second actuation of the handle system moves the cutting member a second distance. The second distance is greater than the first distance.

摘要: Various systems and methods for tracking surgical procedure costs are disclosed. A computer system, such as surgical hub, is configured to be communicably coupled to a plurality of surgical devices. The computer system can be programmed to identify the surgical devices that are being utilized during a surgical procedure via perioperative data received from the surgical devices and then calculate the total cost associated with the surgical devices used in the surgical procedure. The total cost can include an aggregation of the maintenance costs of each of the reusable surgical devices and the replacement costs of the nonreusable surgical devices consumed during the surgical procedure.

摘要: A surgical instrument including an end effector that has a selectively reciprocatable implement movably supported therein. The implement is selectively advanceable in a distal direction upon application of a rotary actuation motion thereto and retractable in a proximal direction upon application of a rotary retraction motion thereto. An elongate shaft assembly is coupled to the end effector and is configured to transmit the rotary actuation motion and rotary retraction motion to the reciprocatable implement from a robotic system that is configured to generate the rotary actuation motion and said rotary retraction motion.

摘要: A surgical severing and stapling instrument, suitable for laparoscopic and endoscopic clinical procedures, clamps tissue within an end effector of an elongate channel pivotally opposed by an anvil. An E-beam firing bar moves distally through the clamped end effector to sever tissue and to drive staples on each side of the cut. The E-beam firing bar affirmatively spaces the anvil from the elongate channel to assure properly formed closed staples, especially when an amount of tissue is clamped that is inadequate to space the end effector. In particular, an upper pin of the firing bar longitudinally moves through an anvil slot and a channel slot is captured between a lower cap and a middle pin of the firing bar to assure a minimum spacing. Forming the E-beam from a thickened distal portion and a thinned proximal strip enhances manufacturability and facilitates use in such articulating surgical instruments.

摘要: A surgical device for clipping tissue can include a replaceable cartridge comprising a stack of clips contained therein and a firing drive configured to reciprocatingly eject, or deploy, the clips from the cartridge. After the clips have been deployed from the cartridge, a blocking member can be positioned to impede or block the firing drive. In at least one embodiment, the cartridge can include a biasing member configured to bias the blocking member into a firing chamber defined in the cartridge and/or surgical device. The surgical device can also include a crimping drive configured to deform a clip after it has been ejected from the cartridge. The blocking member can also be configured to impede or block the crimping drive after all of the clips from the cartridge have been used.

The fastener line comprises fasteners oriented in directions which are transverse or oblique to a tissue incision created by a cutting member. The fasteners can translate and/or rotate within the tissue when the tissue is stretched thereby creating flexibility within the tissue.
