Abstract: Systems and methods for supporting inter subnet control plane protocol for consistent multicast membership and connectivity across multiple subnets in a high performance computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, by associating a multicast group with an inter-subnet partition, and enforcing a dedicated router port for the multicast group, multicast loop avoidance can be provided for between connected subnets. Because only a single router port is selected as being capable of handling the MC packet, no other router port in the subnet can then pass a multicast packet back to the originating subnet.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing multicast group multicast local identifier (MLID) dynamic discovery on received multicast messages for a relevant multicast global identifier (MGID) in a high performance computing environment. By allowing InfiniBand (IB) clients to associate local queue pairs (QPs) with the MGID(s) of relevant multicast group(s) without requiring any join request to the subnet manager (SM)/subnet administration (SA), it is possible to receive relevant multicast (MC) messages without imposing the SM/SA overhead of a conventional multicast group join request. After receiving, at an end-node of the subnet, a multicast packet including a multicast global identifier and a multicast local identifier, the end-node can inspect the multicast packet to learn the multicast local identifier and include the learned multicast local identifier in the multicast group record at the end-node for the received multicast global identifier.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for supporting efficient reconfiguration of an interconnection network having a pre-existing routing. An exemplary method can provide a plurality of switches, a plurality of end nodes, and one or more subnet managers, including a master subnet manager. The method can calculate, via the master subnet manager, a first set of one or more leaf-switch to leaf-switch multipaths. The method can store this first set of one or more leaf-switch to leaf-switch multipaths at a metabase. The method can detect a reconfiguration triggering event, and call a new routing for the interconnection network. Finally, the method can reconfigure the network according to the new routing for the interconnection network.

The method can compute, by the subnet manager, a new routing for the interconnection network, wherein the computing by the subnet manager of the new routing for the interconnection network takes into consideration the pre-existing routing and selects the new routing for the interconnection network that is closest to the pre-existing routing. The method can reconfigure the interconnection network according to the new routing.

Abstract: Systems and methods for supporting SMP connectivity checks across virtual router in a high performance computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, SMA model enhancements allow for the possibility to send a packet (i.e., SMP) that is addressed to a local router port. The SMA where the packet is addressed can receive the packet, and then apply a new attribute that defines that the requested information is on a remote node (e.g., connected by a physical link across subnets). In accordance with an embodiment, the SMA can operate as a proxy (receives a SMP and sends another request), or the SMA can modify the original packet and send it on as an inter-subnet packet.

Abstract: A system and method for supporting network isolation in a multi-tenant cluster environment. An exemplary method can support one or more tenants, and can associate each of the one or more tenants with a partition of a plurality of partitions, and can also associate each of the plurality of partitions with one or more nodes of a plurality of nodes, each of the plurality of nodes being associated with a leaf switch of a plurality of switches. The method can mark each of the plurality of partitions with a policy parameter. The method can assign each node of the plurality of nodes a partitioning order based on the marked on the partition associated with each node. Finally, the method can, based at least upon the marking of the partition of the plurality of partitions, generate one or more linear forwarding tables for use in the multi-tenant cluster environment.

Abstract: A system and method for supporting load balancing in a multi-tenant cluster environment, in accordance with an embodiment. One or more tenants can be supported and each associated with a partition, which are each in turn associated with one or more end nodes. The method can provide a plurality of switches, the plurality of switches comprising a plurality of leaf switches and at least one switch at another level, wherein each of the plurality of switches comprise at least one port. The method can assign each node a weight parameter, and based upon this parameter, the method can route the plurality of end nodes within the multi-tenant cluster environment, wherein the routing attempts to preserve partition isolation.

Abstract: Systems and methods for supporting inter subnet partitions in a high performance computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, a fabric manager can define a range of P_Key values, among a plurality of P_Key values, as a inter subnet partition (ISP) P_Key range. The fabric manager can communicate this defined range of P_Key values to a number of subnets, via their subnet managers. The subnet managers in each subnet retain management over their subnets. As there is no central management that configures each side of inter subnet communication, subnet managers on within participating subnets can set up ISP membership, and then exchange information with the other subnet.

Abstract: Systems and methods for InfiniBand fabric optimizations to minimize SA access and startup failover times. Based on the combination of path record parameters defined with values from the Homogeneous Fabric/Subnet flag (or configuration parameter), as well as the GID and SLID information defined by IPoIB ARP requests and responses, there is no additional need for SA requests to obtain path records or path related information in general.
