Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for wireless communication. One example apparatus generally includes a first transceiver configured to transmit and receive signals in a first frequency band and a second transceiver configured to transmit and receive signals in a second frequency band. The apparatus may also include a processing system coupled to the first transceiver and the second transceiver. The processing system may be configured to dynamically assign transmission operations or reception operations of a signal in the first frequency band to the second transceiver.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus relating to intelligent resource assignment to increase throughput in LTE multiple input multiple output (MIMO) and carrier aggregation (CA) capable devices. In certain aspects, a MIMO and CA capable wireless communication device communicates with a base station (BS) on multiple component carriers (CCs) through multiple radio frequency (RF) chains. In such aspects, the device tentatively switches one or more first RF chains, not assigned to a first CC of the multiple CCs, to the first CC for evaluating a rank of the first CC. The device then determines that the first CC has a higher rank indication (RI) with the one or more RF chains. The device subsequently evaluates one or more performance factors, in conjunction with the higher rank, based on which the device then additionally assigns one or more second RF chains to the first CC.

Abstract: Techniques are provided to initiate signal transmissions for possible opportunistic reception by a mobile device, and/or to initiate opportunistic reception of signal transmissions for use in mobile device position location estimation. For example, a mobile device may use assistance data to identify a first signal to be transmitted over a first frequency band and a second signal to be transmitted over a second frequency band during a specific period of time. At least a portion of the second frequency band may be outside of the first frequency band. The mobile device subsequently attempts to opportunistically receive at least the first signal and the second signal via a receiver tuned to a reception frequency band that encompasses at least the first frequency band and the second frequency band. The mobile device may then process the opportunistically received signals to obtain measurements corresponding to at least the first and second signals.

A wireless communication device may determine a plurality of differential back-off values based at least in part on at least one of a set of parameter values relating to one or more of a plurality of uplink carriers associated with uplink carrier aggregation or any uplink grants associated with the plurality of uplink carriers. The plurality of differential back-off values may relate to a specific absorption rate (SAR) back-off or a thermal back-off of the wireless communication device. The wireless communication device may apply the plurality of differential back-off values to a respective plurality of transmit powers associated, respectively, with the plurality of uplink carriers.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) are described. A UE may be operating in a downlink carrier (DL) carrier aggregation (CA) mode, which may include a first component carrier and a second carrier component of a set of component carriers. The UE may determine the second component carrier satisfies throughput requirements associated with an uplink (UL) data transmission. The UE may determine, a transmission current consumption relationship between the first component carrier and the second component carrier. The UE may determine, based on the transmission current consumption relationship, whether to switch the anchor carrier from the first component carrier to the second component carrier. When the UE determined to switch the anchor carrier, the UE may modify a measurement report to satisfy a condition for switching the anchor carrier from the first component carrier to the second component carrier.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatuses for determining a location of a wireless mobile device. In an aspect, the wireless mobile device determines whether there is a preferred subscription for performing positioning operations of the wireless mobile device at a coarse location of the wireless mobile device, wherein the preferred subscription is one of a plurality of subscriptions associated with the wireless mobile device that provides a more accurate location of the wireless mobile device than remaining subscriptions of the plurality of subscriptions, and, responsive to a determination that the preferred subscription for performing the positioning operations of the wireless mobile device at the coarse location of the wireless mobile device exists, utilizes the preferred subscription for the positioning operations of the wireless mobile device.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for performing positioning measurements at a mobile device during a positioning session with a serving cell. In an aspect, the mobile device determines to trigger a coverage-enhanced (CE) mode before a positioning session timeout for the positioning session expires, continues performance of the positioning measurements during the positioning session with the serving cell while the mobile device remains connected to the serving cell due to the triggered CE mode, determines whether the positioning measurements have been completed or the positioning session timeout has expired, and responsive to the determination that the positioning measurements have been completed or that the positioning session timeout has expired, reports, to a network entity in the wireless communications network, actual handover measurements to enable the network entity to make a handover determination.
