摘要： A moving image coding method includes changing at least one of a resolution and a frame rate of an input image, according to a degree of difficulty in coding the input image, and outputting an image to be coded, coding the image outputted in the changing, and transmitting a coded bit stream through a transmission channel, and determining a coding bit rate that is a bit rate of the coded bit stream transmitted through the transmission channel. The moving image coding method also includes selecting a resolution range for determining an upper limit of a resolution of the image to be coded according to the coding bit rate determined in the determining to control the change in the changing so that the resolution of the image to be coded does not exceed the upper limit.

摘要： A stream generation apparatus generates a stream including coded pictures and a command for managing a buffer which holds a decoded picture, the command being added to one of the coded pictures as a reference picture. A judging unit judges whether or not the coded picture to which the command is added is skipped at the time of trick-play, and an adding unit adds, in the case where the coded picture is judged to be skipped, repetition information indicating the same contents as the command to another coded picture that follows, in decoding order, the coded picture judged to be skipped and that is not skipped at the time of the trick-play. A generating unit generates the stream including the coded pictures, the command and the repetition information.

摘要： A moving picture coding apparatus includes: a coding unit which codes pictures with reference to decoded pictures of previously coded pictures to generate coded data of the pictures; a transmission unit which transmits the coded data to a moving picture decoding apparatus; and a control unit. When an acknowledgement signal indicating successful receiving of coded data of all of a predetermined number of consecutive pictures is received from a receiver apparatus, the control unit stores, as a key picture in a memory, a decoded picture of a current picture being coded when the acknowledgement signal is received. When a negative-acknowledgement signal indicating unsuccessful receiving of coded data of any of the consecutive pictures is received, the control unit causes the coding unit to code the current picture with reference to a key picture stored in the memory.

The data related to the picture size indicates a size of the picture corresponding to the picture signal or an output area, which is a pixel area to be outputted in decoding in a whole pixel area coded in the picture signal coding.

摘要： Mosaic-shaped block noise occurs when a compressed video signal is reproduced. This block noise is removed, but removing block noise from every block using a deblocking filter imposes a significant load on the deblocking filter. This load is therefore reduced by determining whether coding distortion removal (deblocking) is necessary, and applying a deblocking filter only when needed.
