    Abstract: An aquarium overflow device capable of simplifying the structure and reducing the cost is provided.The present invention is directed to an aquarium overflow device for supplying the water W in an aquarium to an external device outside the aquarium and for supplying the water W in the external device into the aquarium. The device is equipped with an inverted U-shaped siphon pipe 55 for introducing the water W in the aquarium to an outside of the aquarium, the siphon pipe having an inlet side end portion to be disposed in the aquarium and an outlet side end portion to be disposed outside the aquarium, an inverted U-shaped discharge pipe 56 having an inlet side end portion to be disposed outside the aquarium and an outlet side end portion to be disposed in the aquarium, water conveyance means for discharging water from the external device to introduce the water into the discharge pipe 56, and a connection tube 8 connecting an upper portion of the siphon pipe 55 and an upper portion of the discharge pipe 56. When the water W is supplied to the discharge pipe 56 by driving the water conveyance means, a suction force generated by the flow of the water W causes suction of an inside of the siphon pipe via the connection tube 8.

    Abstract: A filtration device and method for removing pollutants from fluid such as storm-water. The filtration device has a chamber including a series of pivotal filtration assemblies each including a weir and filter. The filters are selected and positioned for sequentially filtering larger then smaller pollutant particles from the water flowing through the device. The weirs are configured and positioned for sequentially permitting water overflow of (and thereby taking off-line) the smaller-particle size filters then the larger-particle size filters from the water flowing through the device. And the filtration assemblies are pivotally mounted to the chamber walls and configured so that, when one of the filters becomes clogged, the water pressure against it causes that filter assembly to pivot into a bypass position permitting water to flow under it.

    Abstract: A manifold and filter assembly for use with a waste collection unit is provided. The manifold and filter assembly directs and filters medical waste flowing into the waste collection unit. The manifold and filter assembly comprises a manifold body defining a chamber and an outlet for directing the medical waste into the waste collection unit. A manifold cap is fitted to the manifold body to close the chamber. The manifold cap defines a plurality of inlets for receiving the medical waste. A filter basket having a bottom and a peripheral wall defining a plurality of openings is snap-locked to the manifold body. The filter basket is positioned such that a fluid bypass is formed between the filter basket and the manifold body and between the filter basket and the manifold cap. The fluid bypass is in fluid communication with the outlet whereby the medical waste can flow over the peripheral wall to the outlet through the fluid bypass.

    Abstract: A filter and housing (10) for waste water treatment includes a housing (10) having a plurality of coaxially mounted vertically extending sections adaptable to receive a filter cartridge therein. An upper section (12) is provided with an outlet consisting of at least two coaxially aligned rings (22) of preselected diameters wherein the thickness of the rings and the spacing between the rings is sufficient to receive waste water treatment outlets of different diameters. The filter cartridge is comprised of a stacked arrangement of a plurality of disc-dam units (32) wherein each disc-dam unit (32) is provided with a serpentine configured first dam (46), the first dam extending upwardly from an upper surface of the disc-dam unit, the first dam having terminating ends spaced at outer terminating edges (34a, 34b) of the disc dam unit to define a cord segment therebetween. The terminating ends are connected by a second dam (46) having a height less than the first dam. The serpentine configured first dam divides the disc-dam unit into an upstream side along the outer periphery and a downstream side along the inner periphery. Slots are positioned within the serpentine configured dam on the upstream side thereby providing flow communication with underlying disc-dam units. The top of the first dam is of a preselected height so as to provide a preselected spacing between the top of the first dam and the under surface of an overlying disc-dam unit.

    Abstract: A waste water filtration tank receives waste water under hydrostatic pressure. The tank collects solids using a filter screen. When the screen becomes clogged with collected solids, liquid is forced into a float chamber which contains a float. As waste water collects in the float chamber, the float rises, as do a beam member and a pair of rod members to which the float is attached. When the float reaches a predetermined level, cams contained on the rising rod members act on spring-loaded latches, opening the latches and permitting a spring loaded sleeve and reservoir gate to rise, opening the reservoir outlet. Accumulated solids are then drained from the reservoir and the backwash from the screen chamber also clears the clogged screen.
