A method for reducing the amount of hydrogen sulfide present in liquid hydrocarbon media while minimizing the amount of corrosion in processing equipment contacting the liquid hydrocarbon media. The method includes neutralizing a glyoxal solution and dispersing the neutralized glyoxal solution in the liquid hydrocarbon media. The neutralized glyoxal solution is dispersed within the liquid hydrocarbon media not more than 10 days after the glyoxal solution has been neutralized. A hydrogen sulfide scavenging composition and method for making are also provided.

A hydrocracking zone for the selective production of either a naphtha product stream or a middle distillate stream from a hydrocarbonaceous feedstock utilizing a fixed catalyst and varying the ammonia concentration level introduced to the hydrocracking zone. The ammonia can be obtained by the reaction of nitrogen in the hydrocarbonaceous feedstock in a hydrotreating reactor, or from an external ammonia source, where the ammonia concentration is controlled by a stripping zone which allows an ammonia concentration in the range of about 0 to about 50 wppm to be introduced into the hydrocracking zone to yield a naphtha stream and an ammonia concentration in the range of about 20 to about 200 wppm to be introduced into the hydrocracking zone to yield a middle distillate stream.

There is provided an operation method of a middle distillate hydrotreating reactor which hydrotreats and hydroisomerizes a middle distillate including components of a boiling point range equivalent to gas oil among FT synthesis hydrocarbons synthesized by the Fisher-Tropsch synthesis reaction, the operation method comprising the steps of: bringing the middle distillate into contact with a catalyst to hydrotreat and hydroisomerize the middle distillate to produce hydrotreated middle distillate; measuring the cloud point of the hydrotreated middle distillate flowing out from the middle distillate hydrotreating reactor; and controlling the operating conditions of the middle distillate hydrotreating reactor so that the cloud point comes to a predetermined target value.

This invention relates to a hydroprocessing process for the improvement of catalyst life. Such inventive process is carried out with intermittent or discontinuous addition of a co-feed stream when hydroprocessing petroleum based feedstock or an oxygen containing feedstock. More specifically, it has been found that intermittent or discontinuous addition of the co-feed stream such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, or their precursors to the hydrogen stream can reduce the long term deactivation, extend the life and increase run length of a cobalt/molybdenum hydrotreating catalyst.

The invention relates to the integration of a process for hydrotreatment of distillates (light and/or middle), that operates under a hydrogen partial pressure of 0.5 to 6.0 MPa, with a process for hydrotreatment/hydroconversion of middle and/or heavy distillates that operates at a hydrogen partial pressure that is at least 4.0 MPa higher than the hydrogen partial pressure of the process for hydrotreatment of distillates (light and/or middle). The integration resides in the use of the hydrogen-rich gas, obtained from the hydrotreatment/hydroconversion effluents, in the process for hydrotreatment of distillates (light and/or middle) and in the adjustment of the pressure level of this hydrogen-rich gas removed from the hydrotreatment/hydroconversion. This invention makes it possible to considerably reduce the net consumption of make-up hydrogen in the process for hydrotreatment of distillates (light and/or middle).
