Abstract: A shift controller for a vehicle includes a shift switching unit, a rotation restricting element, and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to: acquire a count value corresponding to a degree of rotation of an actuator; set a rotational position of the actuator when the count value does not change by restricting rotation of the actuator using the rotation restricting element as a reference position of the actuator corresponding to the predetermined shift position; and interrupt setting the reference position of the actuator and restart setting the reference position of the actuator when the rotation of the actuator is restricted and a supply voltage to the actuator is equal to or lower than a predetermined first voltage determination value or a variation in the count value while the rotation of the actuator is restricted is equal to or greater than a predetermined value.

Abstract: A transmission includes first and second input shafts connected via a first clutch to a power source, an output shaft, a first shift gear group including shift gears arranged between the first input and output shafts, a first switching mechanism including a synchronizer for selecting one shift gear from the group, a second shift gear group including shift gears arranged between the second input shaft and the output shaft, and a second switching mechanism including a synchronizer for selecting one shift gear from the group. In order to learn a synchronizer balk position, either the first or second shift gear group, where no targeted synchronizer belongs, is set to any shift gear, both the first and second clutches are engaged, the balk position of the synchronizer is detected in a process of the targeted synchronizer being slid, and information specifying the detected position is stored.

Abstract: During changing of a shift range (for example, from P-range to NotP-range), an SBW-ECU determines whether it is in a range-change delay condition (a switching completion time of the shift range is delayed than a normal switching completion time). When it is determined that it is in the range-change delay condition, it is determined whether a target range should be changed to a safer range (for example, P-range). As a result, when it is determined that the target range should be changed to the safer range, the target range is changed to the safer range. Thereby, even if a driver determines that the shift range cannot be changed before the switching completion of the shift range and the driver gets off the vehicle, the shift range can be changed to the safer range (P-range).

Abstract: A method for updating shift position thresholds for a multi-speed transmission is provided. The multi-speed transmission includes an input member for connection to a prime mover and an output member, the output member selectively couplable to the input member via a plurality of gear ratios, and a position sensor for providing data indicative of a position of a shift actuator for selecting between the plurality of gear ratios. The method includes: detecting a request to change the gear ratio between the input member and the output member; and subsequent to detecting the request to change the gear ratio, i) comparing a velocity of the output member to a prescribed velocity, ii) upon the velocity of the output member increasing and being less than the prescribed velocity, storing the position provided by the position sensor as a synchronization position, iii) upon the velocity of the output member corresponding to the prescribed value, storing the position provided by the position sensor as an endstop position, and iv) calculating a threshold position for the shift actuator based on the synchronization position and the endstop position.

Abstract: A SBW-ECU switches over a shift range to a selected range by rotationally driving a motor to a target position corresponding to the selected range. When a direction of rotation of the motor is the same as a direction toward the target position and a difference between the target position and a present position is larger than a threshold value in a case that the selected range is changed during rotational driving of the motor, the target position is updated to a post-change target position. When the direction of rotation of the motor is opposite to the direction toward the target position or the difference between the target position and the present position is smaller than the threshold value in the case that the selected range is changed during rotational driving of the motor, the target position is updated to the post-change target position after completing the switchover to the pre-change selected range.
