    摘要: Liquid chromatography apparatus including a hollow cylinder and a fixed end closure in which the effective useful length of the cylinder is varied through the use of a piston member that slides within the cylinder due to force exerted by a threaded shaft that is connected to a handle. Binding of the piston member in the cylinder is prevented by a ball joint that operatively connects the piston member to the threaded shaft and by a plurality of O-rings located on the piston member that contact the inner wall of the cylinder and tend to prevent tipping of the piston member. Even liquid distribution and filtering is obtained through a 0.5 micron porous sintered stainless steel liquid distribution disk. A smooth inclined surface in combination with an uninterrupted ring provide a trap for bubbles of gas located inside the cylinder. A composite porous segmented sintered liquid distribution disk is also presented that is particularly useful for large scale liquid chromatography as is the method of manufacturing the composite segmented disk.

    摘要: A liquid chromatography column apparatus which utilizes sorbent packing material in a tube having a first end portion and a second end portion. The first end portion of the tube includes a plug having a passage therethrough. The plug fits in the tube adjacent the packing material and is movable within the tube. An end fitting is also employed adjacent the plug. The end fitting has a passage therethrough which communicates with the passage of the plug. A seal is used inside the tube between the tube and the end fitting. The second end portion of the tube is enclosed and also includes a passage from the interior to the exterior of the tube. A manually actuable gear mechanism is incorporated in the end fitting of the first end portion of the tube for facilitating application of axial force to the packing material, thereby compressing the packing material so as to eliminate voids and channels in the packing material. Other features are also disclosed.

    摘要: A dynamic axial compression column is disclosed herein. This dynamic axial column utilized external compression to prevent the creation of end plate space in the column. The dynamic axial column can include a tube defining a first opening, a second opening, and a lumen extending there between. The dynamic axial column can include a first end plate assembly sealing the first opening and movably extending at least partially into the lumen via the first opening, a second end plate assembly sealing the second opening, a plurality of rods extending along the outside of the tube and connecting the first end plate assembly and the second end plate assembly, and a first plurality of compression devices external to the tube and engaging one of the plurality of rods to bias the first end plate assembly towards the second end plate assembly.

The holding system includes an upright member and a plurality of holding members movably arranged along the upright member. A first supporting member is positioned at an end portion of the chromatography column, wherein a holding member of the plurality of holding members is configured to be engaged to the first supporting member. A second supporting member is positioned at another end portion of the chromatography column. A holding member of the plurality of holding members is configured to be engaged to the second supporting member. One or more hoist assisting members may be also present. A hoist assisting member is operatively connected to the holding member engaged to the first supporting member. The hoist assisting member is operable to move the holding member connected to the first supporting member for hoisting the chromatography column.
