摘要: A process for producing packaged products from a film roll includes the steps of detecting whether an elongate film is defective or not, detecting whether a spool is defective or not, detecting whether an assembled cartridge is defective or not, and detecting whether a case is defective or not. Various defective products detected in these steps are removed without being fed to subsequent steps. By thus detecting various defects in the process for producing packaged products from a film roll, high-quality packaged products can efficiently be manufactured.

摘要: The system and method of the present invention senses the time that it takes an automatic machine to assemble two or more parts and compares that time against a know time for correctly assembled parts. If the sensed time varies from the known time the attempted part assembly is rejected. A linear signal transducer is coupled to an assembler portion of the automatic machine to provide a signal indicative of the time it takes for the assembler portion to traverse its assembly distance. The provided signal is compared against a predetermined threshold signal for purposes of determining a variance corresponding to a defect in the assembly process.

摘要: A rivet injector/rejector device (10) is provided for use with a riveting machine (12) having a plurality of rivet gripping fingers (120, 122). The device (10) includes a supporting member (16) fixedly mounted to the riveting machine (12). A tubular member (92) is provided for delivering a rivet (148) to the fingers (120, 122). The tubular member (92) is mounted to the supporting member (16) so that an end portion (118) of the tubular member may be moved downwardly relative to the fingers (120, 122). The end portion (118) is shaped so that as it moves downwardly it spreads the fingers thereby permitting a rivet to drop free therefrom.

摘要: A system for handling an oriented array of objects, such as integrated circuit chips, includes a fixture in which the chips are held in place by vacuum means. A chip placement tube is capable of reciprocal motion normal to the plane of the fixture to move a chip unidirectionally from its position in the array for placement on a substrate. The system further includes means for positioning a substrate precisely with respect to a chip in the array to allow its direct placement from the array. This fixture and system allows the precise orientation and alignment of semiconductor chips in a wafer to be maintained for laser dicing and chip positioning on a substrate without requiring reorientation. When combined with testing and inspection apparatus and a suitable memory, the system further allows handling and processing of chips to be minimized.

摘要: Batteries having cell element assemblies electrically connected by a welded joint between adjacent cell element assemblies are manufactured in an automated machine including align, weld, test, and reject stations and a conveyor for transporting a battery case containing cell element assemblies to the stations with the transportation of the battery case being synchronized with operations at the various stations. A battery case, containing cell element assemblies, is transported to the align station wherein the cell element assemblies are aligned for welding. A test of the position of the cell element assemblies relative to each other and to the to the battery case and also of the electrical condition of the individual cell element assemblies is performed. The so aligned and tested battery cases are transported on the conveyor to the weld stations wherein the aligned conductive portions are pressed into engagement and welded. Upon completion of the welding, the battery case is transported, again on the conveyor, to the test station wherein the connections between adjacent cell element assemblies are tested both electrically and mechanically. The tested battery cases are then transported, on the conveyor, to the reject station where they are rejected if prior testing shows them to have been defective or allowed to pass out of the machine if acceptable.

摘要: A machine is provided for producing mica capacitor piles and comprises a plurality of transfer heads which periodically turn, lift, and drop for transferring capacitor piles between a plurality of stations where the piles have operations performed thereon. At a first station is located a mechanism for bending and additional pressing of the foil leads of the piles the mechanism alternatively cooperating with grippers of the transfer heads. At a subsequent station are dielectric strength monitors of the capacitor piles for detecting defective capacitor piles and causing removal of the defective piles from the grippers of the transfer heads. At a further station is a mechanism which receives the piles and effects a dipping of the piles into an impregnant.
