摘要: An odor eliminating solution comprises the active deodorizing and antimicrobial agents of silver nanoparticles dispersed in colloidal suspension in a solution containing excess sodium tetraborate decahydrate, commonly referred to as borax. The silver nanoparticles provide deodorizing and antimicrobial properties through the colloidal dispersion which provides a high surface area to volume ratio for the suspension. The sodium tetraborate decahydrate provides deodorizing and antimicrobial properties through its co-complexing ability with various substances. The combination of both provides the present invention with long term stability and deodorizing and antimicrobial activity. Furthermore, the present invention includes the method for formulating the odor eliminating solution through the combination of a silver nanoparticle source solution and an aqueous sodium tetraborate solution which results in a chemical reaction that synthesizes the silver nanoparticles from the silver cations. The resulting odor eliminating solution can be utilized independently or combined with existing odor management products.

摘要: A nasal insert including an antimicrobial agent is inserted into the nose to eliminate or reduce undesirable microbes in the area just inside the nose. Pads of the nasal insert can be formed from a blended polymer compound with a microbial agent. Processing of the pre-polymer results in the microbial agent being trapped in the polymer. A blowing agent or CO2 gas can be introduced in the process after decompression, and before molding to improve attraction of liquid born microbes to the nasal insert.

摘要: The method for preparing metal nanoparticles includes preparing an extract of myrrh and mixing the extract with an aqueous solution including a metal salt. The mixture changes in color from light yellow to dark brown upon formation of nanoparticles. The extract of myrrh can be a water extract prepared by, for example, soaking a quantity of myrrh in water, filtering the soaked myrrh to obtain a filtered product, and then centrifuging the filtered product. The metal salt can be, for example, silver nitrate (AgNO3). The metal nanoparticles can be spherical, spheroidal, elongated spherical, rod, and/or faceted. The metal nanoparticles can be used to treat Leishmaniasis (lesions) caused by Leishmania major.

The covering may include a single or multi-compartment structure configured to at least partially retain the therapeutic agent until the covering is placed at a surgical site. Upon placement, the covering may facilitate transfer of the therapeutic agent to the surgical site. In some embodiments, the covering comprises an antimicrobial agent, a hemostatic agent, an anti-inflammatory agent, and/or a growth factor.

In some embodiments the compositions include silver microparticles, for example about 0.1% silver microparticles, about 0.2% silver microparticles, or about 0.4% silver microparticles. Also disclosed are methods for treating ear infection in a subject utilizing one or more of the disclosed compositions, for example sequential application of compositions including about 0.1% silver microparticles, about 0.2% silver microparticles, and about 0.4% silver microparticles to the ear canal of the subject. In some examples, one or more of the disclosed compositions are provided in a kit.
