Abstract:
A method of producing a clear dispersant OCP VI improver. The method comprises admixing a polar modifier to a VI improver during the preparation process or to a final product at a sufficiently high temperature to produce the desired clear dispersant VI improver.
Abstract:
Fluid compositions comprised of a monomer constituent dissolved in a carrier fluid, where the monomer constituent is capable of forming a polymer film directly on rubbing surfaces but is not polymerized in solution, have been found to be effective for reducing ceramic wear.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a lubricant composition containing a minor amount of a thermally stable modified selectively hydrogenated alkenyl arene/conjugated diene copolymer wherein a primary or secondary amine functional group is grafted to the block copolymer primarily in the alkenyl arene blocks thereof.
Abstract:
A method for controlling the viscosity of organic liquids, said organic liquid having a solubility parameter of from about 6 to about 10.5, which comprises incorporating in said organic liquid a minor amount of a polymer complex, said complex being formed from the interaction of polymer A, containing neutralized sulfonate groups and polymer B, containing basic nitrogen groups, both functional groups being presented at a level of from about 4 to 500 meq. per 100 g. of polymer, wherein the polymeric backbone of polymer A and polymer B are the same.
Abstract:
A metal-working oil composition containing the following three components (A), (B) and (C) as its essential components:(A) one or more lube-oil components selected from the group consisting of oils, fats, mineral oils and fatty acid esters;(B) a cationic or amphoteric water-soluble polymer compound having a molecular weight of 1,000 to 10,000,000, containing nitrogen atoms in its molecule; and(C) a surfactant.A metal-working oil composition according to the invention can further and optionally comprise an extreme-pressure additive, which can enhance the lubrication performance. When the metal-working oil composition is brought into contact with a metallic workpiece, oil droplets having a uniform diameter form a thick and strong lubricating film over the workpiece, thus the composition can be successfully employed for processing metals under high shear, high-speed and high-pressure conditions.
Abstract:
Polymers, such as polyisobutylene or ethylene-propylene copolymers, are functionalized by reaction with an activated imine to yield novel polymers.
Abstract:
Lubricants of improved properties contain ethylene-propylene copolymers bearing graft units derived from, as a functional monomer, the reaction product of (i) an unsaturated aldehyde or ketone and (ii) a primary or secondary amine which contains at least one nitrogen atom in a heterocyclic ring.
