摘要: 3-D printed PLA material of a selected density is formed into a pattern that is configured as the outer shell of a casting form to be used in the lost foam or evaporative casting process. The purpose of 3-D printing of the PLA material is used to maintain the proper configuration of the form to facilitate casting, and reduce buildup of carbon on the surface of the casting. Because the form is essentially hollow, PLA support pieces can be used on the interior to maintain the structural integrity of the form.

摘要: The invention relates to the field of monocrystalline casting, and more specifically to a mold (1) for monocrystalline casting, and also to fabricating and using the mold. In particular, the mold (1) presents a mold cavity (7) comprising a first volume (7a), a second volume (7b) and a grain duct (4). The second volume (7b) is situated on the first volume (7a), being in communication therewith, and includes at least one horizontal projection relative to the first volume (7a). The grain duct (4) has a bottom end (4a) connected to the first volume (7a) and a top end (7b) adjacent to said horizontal projection of the second volume (7b). The mold (1) also has a separator member (11) interposed between the second volume (7b) of the mold cavity (7) and the top end (4b) of the grain duct (4).

摘要: A brake caliper adapted for use in a vehicle disc brake assembly and method and apparatus for producing the same. The apparatus for producing the brake caliper comprises a mold member and a core member. The mold member has two mold sections meeting at a vertical interface, the first mold section having an extension from the vertical interface into the second mold section to form an integrally cast lug on the brake caliper. The core member has three extensions operative to form three integrally cast locating surfaces on the cast brake caliper, the extensions defining datum surfaces for subsequent machining of the cast brake caliper to predetermined tolerances using the three locating surfaces as the datum surfaces.

摘要: An example mold assembly system includes a mold assembly including a mold forming a bottom of the mold assembly, a funnel operatively coupled to the mold, and an infiltration chamber defined at least partially by the mold and the funnel, the infiltration chamber being used for forming an infiltrated downhole tool. A mold assembly cap is positionable on the mold assembly and including a sidewall extendable about an outer periphery of the mold assembly at least partially along a height of the mold assembly. The sidewall exhibits a horizontal cross-sectional shape that accommodates a shape of the mold assembly and the sidewall is made of a thermal material that promotes directional solidification of the infiltrated downhole tool during fabrication.

摘要: A method for manufacturing a pipe with a rib, in which a rib portion formed inside a pipe portion includes bent portions in accordance with bending of the pipe portion or a twisted portion in accordance with twisting of the pipe portion, includes drawing out molten metal held in a furnace by using a starter, from a surface of the molten metal, and drawing up the molten metal through a shape defining member defining a sectional shape of the pipe with the rib to be cast, and cooling and solidifying the molten metal passed through the shape defining member and drawn up. The bent portions are formed by moving at least one of the starter and the shape defining member in a horizontal direction. The twisted portion is formed by rotating at least one of the starter and the shape defining member about an axis extending along a vertical direction.

摘要: Method and system for producing a part using die casting or injection molding with a top die and undercut dies that are independently moveable from the top die. In one particular form, the method and system can include a top die and one or more undercut dies that can have a protrusion. The undercut dies can be lowered into a base of the system and moved away from each other, and the top die can be lowered into a receiving portion between the undercut dies. A molten liquid can be introduced into a space between the undercut dies and additional aspects of the system, and after cooling to form a part, the top die can be moved vertically to allow space for the undercut dies to be moved toward each other. The undercut dies can be moved vertically and the part can be removed.
