    摘要: An apparatus and method for efficiently metering and transferring a cryogenic liquid, such as liquefied natural gas, from a storage vessel to, for example, a vehicle fuel tank. The apparatus incorporates a programmable controller, a motor-driven pump and a network of conduits with motor-operated valves and liquid sensors for effecting a priming of the pump with liquid free of vapor and a cool-down of the flow passages prior to a transfer operation for ensuring that a vapor-free liquid is delivered. A pair of flow meters, one for liquid and the other for returned vapor, allows a reliable determination of the amount of liquid delivered to--and remaining in--a receiving vessel. The apparatus employs a delivery nozzle with quick-disconnect valved fittings and a delivery nozzle incorporating features which allow it to be handled by an operator without the use of heavy gloves. The method of transferring a cryogenic liquid employs an operating sequence with programmed time delays for ensuring that the liquid pump is properly primed and that the transfer apparatus is cooled down before liquid transfer begins.

    摘要: A liquid cryogen is supplied, preferably by means of a reservoir, to a dispensing tube so that the liquid cryogen tends to flow from the dispensing tube. A heating coil wrapped around the dispensing tube heats the dispensing tube so that the liquid cryogen undergoes nucleate boiling within the dispensing tube to form a vapor block, and thereby at least impede the liquid cryogen from flowing from the dispensing tube. Flow is reestablished within the dispensing tube by terminating the heating of the dispensing tube, e.g. by turning off electrical power supplied to the heating coil. The heating of the dispensing tube can be sufficient to stop the flow of liquid cryogen. Additionally, the dispensing tube can be cyclically heated by a timing circuit connected to the heating coil. Such cyclical heating is used to throttle the flow of the liquid cryogen from the dispensing tube.

    摘要: A vacuum insulated storage vessel holds a quantity of LNG for delivery to a pressure building tank. The pressure building tank maintains a natural gas head over the LNG. The pressure in the pressure building tank is lowered using liquid nitrogen (LN.sub.2) to condense the natural gas head and is raised by vaporizing the LNG. A valve system connects the supply of LNG in the pressure building tank to the fuel tank of the vehicle being supplied to allow either LNG or natural gas to be delivered to the vehicle tank and allows natural gas in the tank to be vented back to the fueling station. The fueling station of the invention includes suitable controls for controlling the pressure and temperature of the LNG delivered to the vehicle, the pressure and temperature in the fueling station itself and the pressure and temperature in the vehicle fuel tank.

    摘要: The fueling station of the invention consists of a vacuum insulated storage vessel for delivering LNG to a pressure building tank. The pressure building tank holds a quantity of LNG and a natural gas head.     摘要: A process and apparatus for bringing CO.sub.2 from a storage tank wherein it is stored at a medium pressure and below 0.degree. C. (e.g. -20.degree. C. and 20 bars pressure) to a high pressure such as 80-130 bars, without utilizing any pump operating below 0.degree. C. The build-up of ice on such a pump is thus avoided. To do this, liquid from the tank is caused to completely fill by gravity an intermediate vessel. Then the vessel is heated to about ambient temperature; and while maintaining such temperature (e.g. by means of resistor 16), the liquid in the vessel is subcooled by compression in FIG. 1 or by cooling water in FIG. 2, and conveyed to the inlet of the high pressure pump.
